not coming back

GINNY POV:

I headed for the platform, bringing my trunk along magically through the crowd of sullen students, trying to look for a certain long haired blonde.

And there she was, radishes and all, her big blue eyes wide with no particular reason, just interest at the world, and I smiled half heartedly. Luna was really the only one who could keep everyone in good spirits these days, because she really just reminded everyone of the past innocence.

" Luna!" I called, speeding up a bit to catch up to her. She turned around and stood in the crowd, not caring about the people who were dodging her motionless figure, ignoring the people mumbling around her.

" Oh, hello, Ginny!" She
said dreamily, took my hand and kept walking. If all the students at Hogwarts didn't know any better, they'd think Luna was dating every single person she's with, but Luna was just a very cuddly person.

" Find a compartment with me?" I asked, and she nodded cheerfully, fixing her butterbeer cork necklace around her neck. She hummed an odd tune as we boarded the platform.

We finally made it to an empty compartment and settled down, with an erie silence falling over the room. I pulled out a book, and began to read it, as it reminded me of Hermione, since it was a muggle story and she loved those so much. The Carrows would go ballistic if they found it, so I had a glamour charm on it at all times. I always carried it with me though, just like I wore Harry's hoodie every Saturday when the Carrows wouldn't punish me for wearing muggle clothing. And Ron, even though he was such a prat sometimes, he's my brother - and I'm worried for him.

Sometimes I'd walk the halls of Hogwarts in the dead of the night just to be a peace for once, without being bombarded with questions about Harry, or if I was part of the Order, or The Carrows pestering me for every little thing that bothered them. It was the only quiet time you'd get at Hogwarts now, because even if it's silent in the halls, the looks and gestures of my fellow classmates speaks for the silence.

Once I'd finished the chapter I was on, I looked to Luna, who was gazing up at the ceiling of the compartment, smiling faintly.

The train didn't feel calm like Luna seemed though, it was quiet and dim, the lights flickering, though the train wasn't breaking down. It was coming to a stop, like in my second year with the dementors. Surely they wouldn't board again? Who knows with this war?

Finally, the train came to a complete stop, jolting me and Luna forward suddenly and my head hit the window. I groaned, and looked to Luna, who for the first time in today, looked quite worried.

And then the footsteps, coming closer and closer. I heard the slamming and cracks of the compartment doors being opened and closed, but no one said a word. They knew better than to react like the first time. Death Eaters.

I held my breath as the footsteps came closer, and finally to our door, and it slammed open. Masked and cloaked, they came in roughly, and pointed to Luna. My heart dropped, and my breath quickened. They can't take her.

" Come easy and your friends won't be injured." One of them said in a menacing tone, hand twitching to their wand pocket. Luna stayed silent and moved for her wand quickly, and fired a stupefy. But she was too slow and the Death Eater reflected it easily. " Now." He said, and flicked Luna's wand out of reach for both of us. " Now!" He repeated angrily, and fired a curse at the window, shattering the glass. She stood up.

" No! Luna, stop! Take me!" I blurted out, standing up and blocking Luna out of the way. " Stay back!" The Death Eaters laughed, and all pulled out their wands, pointing them at our throats.
