"Yes, it is better not to go outside now." I pulled a tight black curtain and sat down on the sofa next to my mother.
On TV, a complete aunt, namely The Leader of our factions, was talking some nonsense. "The management of the factories is out of control, but in the next two days we'll sort everything out." She pisses me off so hard, why does she lie to people so brazenly? I would say at once: we will shoot all the rebels, those who surrender will survive. And in two days they won't manage, it is clear. How many empty promises she had already made in order to keep the title of leader. She contradicts herself.
"Daughter, we need to have a serious talk." Dad entered the living room and sat down on the edge of the chair. I am worried about this beginning. We don't communicate very closely with him, and here we need to talk, and also to talk seriously.
"Yes, what happened?" Dad looked at my mother unsurely and put his head down. He turned the key bracelet in his hand and looked at me decisively. Is it really that bad?
"We are going away. We just can't be in the very epicenter of events without getting into some kind of trouble. You know, your mother is in poor health, she may not be able to stand all this shit." Yes, in terms of words, my dad has never been shy. "So pack your things. Today at dawn we leave."
But I don't like this order of events at all. Despite all the crap, I love my city. Besides, where is it going? In other areas, everything is not much better.
"Dad, I understand everything, but I will better stay here. I'm strong, I can do it. And I do not want to leave this house, this district. You go, and I will stay."
"Daughter." Dad looked too serious. And sad. "We can't leave you alone, you're only 17!"
"As much as 17! In a year I will be an adult, you have nothing to worry about." I exploded. They always think i'm small...
"We will not leave you..." father shaked his head.
"I will stay with her." My brother came into the room and sat down next to me. "I am already 21, you can rely on me. I will look after Nelly."
"Thank you, Rick." I put my hand on brother's shoulder and looked at my parents.
"But... how are you alone here?" Dad resisted, but it seemed that he was almost ready to give up. After all, now mom's health was the most important for him.
"Everything will be fine." I smiled encouragingly and squeezed my mother's hand.
"Nel, but how?" Mom clearly did not have enough words to express her grief. I hate to upset my mother, but I foresaw that they would want to leave and made a decision long ago. I don't like uncertainty, so I often predict events in advance.
"Nel and I can handle it. She will finish this year and find a job. I will provide her with courses. Mom, it is important for you to stay healthy. I will mark on the map one village, where my close friends live. It is the safest place for you."
"Okay." My mother has exhaled. "I can not dissuade you. Just promise that you will be safe, and if any threat comes to you, you will come to us immediately."
"We promise." I smiled. "We will be in touch." If she knew that I crossed my fingers behind my back...
"Okay", my father spreaded his hands, "I will go and pack our things."
My parents left the house at 3 am. It was safer for them. Ricard and I accompanied them to the border and returned home.
"Okay... welcome to adult life!" Rick was the first who broke the burdensome silence.
"Yeah." I laughed. "I hope it will be fun."
