The black haired setter was walking behind everyone else on the team. He was never really good at having conversations with people so he'd just listen. Soon the sound of the conversation became muffled as he wandered into his own thoughts.

"Kageyamaaaa" he was snapped out of his mind when an orange haired ball of sunshine started jumping up and down in front of him. He could see a wide smile on the smaller boy's face that made Tobio feel happy himself, but there was one problem, Hinata's eyes didn't light up like they used to. There was always some sort of sparkle in his eyes, even when he was sad, but the past couple of weeks the light was fading until it wasn't there anymore.

"What do you want, dumbass?" the taller one pouted. How does he have so much energy after a two hour practice? he barely takes breaks and works three times harder than every one else. But where is the light, where is it?

"Come walk with us," Hinata grabbed Kageyama's arm enthusiastically and dragged him into the center of the group of volleyball players.

"Idiot, I was already walking with you guys." The taller one muttered under his breath. Hinata didn't hear him and everyone just kept walking continuing with their conversation.

A couple minutes later the rest it the team went one way and the two first years went another. Kageyama couldn't help but notice all of the spiker's features on the light of the sunset. The way his orange hair turned golden as the sun shinned through, how his profile was almost a shadow but he could still see his dull eyes with a forced sparkle in them instead of the real one. They walked side by side for about ten minutes in silence until it was time for them to part ways.

"Hinata, where's your bike?" the setter noticed that he didn't have his bike but didn't have the courage to say anything until now.

"Oh I left it at school, silly me." he laughed and smiled widely, but Kageyama knew it was fake and forced. He knew that Hinata's smiles have been anything but real for the past few weeks. Maybe it's something going on at home? Is he okay?  He definitely needs some help.

"I'll walk you all the way home." the setter started walking down the street the Hinata always walked down to get to his house. He noticed that Hinata was frozen where he was for a couple of seconds and then bolted in front of Kageyama waving his arms in the air.

"No, no. You really don't have to." he half shouted, "Please don't." Kageyama barley heard the last part but it was enough to make him worry. It's definitely something going on at home. I've got to keep him away from there as long as possible.

"All right fine, you are going to walk me home" Tobio turned around and started walking towards the street that lead him to his house. he heard a sigh from the shorter boy right before Kageyama saw him right next to him.

"I don't think i've ever been to your house before Kageyama"

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure you haven't either."

~Kageyama POV~

We walked side by side in a comfortable silence until we reached my house. the whole way I could see that he was uncomfortable about something and was either relieved he didn't have to go back to his house or was rushing to get back, but I didn't know what.

"Wow, Kageyama. Your house is really big."  his eyes widened in surprise and amazement.

"Do you wanna come inside? I can give you a little snack to go back to you house with." I asked as I the top of the steps to the front porch.

"...Um..."

"You don't have to, but we have meat buns."

"...YES, I would love a meat bun." he ran up the steps in a split second and was right at the front of my door hopping up and down. I walked over to the door and took out my key, slid it in the key hole, turned the key and opened the door. I walked in first, Hinata following behind me.

I pointed to the slippers as Hinata was taking off his shoes, "you can use any of these slipers-"

"Tobio, are you home?" I heard my sister call out as she poked her head out of the living room entrance and walked into the hallway. She looked at us for a second "Tobio, who's that?"

"I'm Hinata Shoyo, nice to meet you." Hinata half shouted with a bow before I could say anything.

"Nice to meet you too, I'm Tobio's sister Miw- AHHH, OH MY GOD, TOBIO IS THAT THE SHORT RED-HEADED SPIKER YOU KEEP TALKING ABOUT." Miwa shouts loud enough for the whole street to hear. My face immediately becomes hot and I know I'm all red.

"SHUT UP MIWA, YOU DUMBASS" I ran up to her and shoved her back into the living room, slamming the door. All while blushing. Hinata stood there in shock and when i turned back to him he started giggling. I could see a little sparkle in his eyes. it wasn't very strong, but it wasn't nothing. "Shut up, dumbass" I mumbled as I grabbed his wrist, he filched a little at the action but i ignored it, and dragged him out of the foyer up the stairs to the doorway of my room. I shove myself and Hinata into my room and slam the door behind us. The sound is so loud it makes Hinata jump slightly. I wonder why he did that. After a moment of silence, the red-head in front of me bursts out laughing.

"Your sister is so funny, I really like her. Did you know I have a sister too?" I shake my head no, i didn't know he had one, "Oh, thats ok, I hope you can meet her one day."

"That would be cool." I put my school bag down on the floor next to my desk, "you can put you bag down, you know." I walk over to my bed and sit on it.

He shakes his head, "I should probably go soon, I don't think my parents want me getting to my house too late." He smiles, but I know it's not real. Why does he keep doing that?

"Oh," I lower my head, " do you need to go now? I don't want to upset your parents."

"Yeah I really should but u promised me a meat bun, and I still want it." He crosses his arms and adds a little 'hmph' at the end.

"Alright, I'll give it to you for your way back."

•Time skip•
~3rd person POV~

"See you tomorrow Kageyama-kun" the middle blocker exclaimed cheerfully while waving.

"Bye" Kageyama chuckled at Hinata's energy and entered back into his home when he no longer saw the bright orange hair of his teammate.

Hinata kept walking to his house and managed to finish the meat bun one block before he would reach the house.

As soon as he finished it he suddenly became really aware of his situation. His hands started to shake as he reached the bottom of the steps. One foot after the other Hinata dragged himself up the steps to his front door, he slowly grabbed his house key out of his school uniform jacket and slid it into the keyhole. Slowly and carefully he managed to open the front door as quietly as he could.

He took a couple steps inside and quietly closed the door. When door shut behind him he knew something was wrong.

"YOU'RE LATE, YOU LITTLE SHIT." As soon as he heard those words an empty glass bottle appeared in front of his face. Luckily the spiker had amazing reflexes and dogged the bottle at the very last second. But it slammed against the door, shattering, little shards of glass flying everywhere.

"SHOYO GET IN HERE RIGHT NOW. YOU NEED TO BE PUNISHED FOR YOUR BAD BEHAVIOR." Hinata flinched at the yelling but put down his bag and did as his father told him so.
