Note: I know nothing about ballet. I am not a dancer. Therefore, some of the terminology used in my story may be incorrect. I apologize for this and if anyone reading this knows anything about ballet I would be grateful for your help.  Thank you!

P.S. This is 2 weeks before the prologue! Please keep this in mind!

"Taehyung! Extend your leg! How many times do I have to tell you this? I'm tired of repeating myself! Do it again!"

I breathe out an irritated sigh. In and out. In and out. Calm yourself.

"Yes, Miss Lee," I call out in response as I move to my beginning position again. For the tenth time...  The first few notes of the song ring out, and I let myself be immersed in the feeling and movement that craved to be released.

My chest heaves up and down as I finish the routine.  My eyes stare up at the auditorium ceiling, taking in its intricate details as I come down from the rush of adrenaline I had created within me. A sense of fulfillment rises and settles in my heart. Perspiration drips down my forehead and back, and an ache fills my bones. Yet at that moment I felt more alive than  I had ever before.

"That was beautiful! That's what I wanted to see!" Miss Lee exclaims making her way over to the stage.

"Thank god! I swear if I had to repeat it once more, I would have exploded," I say while walking down the steps over to her.

"Hey! You know I only want you to reach your full potential. Plus you're the one who asked me for help, remember," She says as she sits down in one of the front row seats of the auditorium. She pauses for a moment and crosses her legs. "I'm serious though Tae. I think that was the best one yet!"

"I know, I know. And I truly appreciate all of you're help. You have no idea how much it means to me.... Anyways you really think so? I thought it could've been better. "

She rolls her eyes at my statement. "Just take the compliment. There's always room for improvement but you need to learn how to appreciate what you've accomplished so far. Your work is inspiring. You literally made your own choreography for what could be an entire Broadway show! I just wish you would show this to the world!"

My mood dampens and I slightly stiffen at her words. My eyes look down at the red carpet below in shame. "You know why I can't. My mother would never approve. She doesn't believe modern and contemporary dance has a place in the world. Plus I'm supposed to be practicing more feminine dances. She would literally kill me if she knew I was doing this."

Miss Lee sits up and pouts in frustration. "Why do you go along with her every whim?!" She exclaims while throwing her arms out. "It's clear that you don't love classical ballet so why do it? You're not happy Taehyung!"

My eyebrow twitches and I scowl. "Because she's my mom and I love her! I would do anything to make her happy. You know how she lost her own chance at her dreams. Plus, it's not as if I hate classical ballet. I do find it somewhat enjoyable! And who says I'm not happy?"

She just sighs and looks at me with an unreadable expression. "Trust me Tae, it's pretty noticeable that you're not." She stands up and gently reaches out and squeezes my shoulder. She then turns and walks out towards the exit. "But whatever. Call me when you need someone to spot you again. Later!" She calls out as she leaves. The door slams behind her and the room is drenched in silence.

I huff out in irritation. I am happy. I know I am.

Right....?
