Chapter 5 ~ Relax ~

After I finished work yesterday, Lucinda gave me my money with an extra pay on, ' because I had been working even harder than usual' she said. I put the money straight in the bank, and thankfully dad was out so he didn't ask where the money- that he would waste body- damaging crap on was.

Knackered after a long day, I went straight to bed, setting my alarm for a day of college. When I woke up, I noticed dad still wasn't home. But I was in a rush, so I ignored all the questions my head was asking, and left the house with an apple for breakfast.

I was too tired for school today, I was not focused at all. My mind kept wandering off, and Mr Caswell, the man leading my Fashion Designing lecture proved that when he picked on me to answer a question which I replied to with a blank face and a lot of 'err's until he moved on. Luck was being a bitch today, why is it that everyday I focus and nobody asks me a question, but the one say I don't, it's like i'm on a quiz T.V show. But then again, Luck has been a bitch my entire life. After my lecture ended, I left and headed to the one place I always go when I have free lessons. The library.

Usually, when I walk in and sit in my usual place, there wouldn't be a card, with my name on, on the table. However, today there was! Intrigued yet confused, I opened the card, it read: 'Dear Allison, I'm sorry if I upset you yesterday, I didn't mean to. From Adam xoxo' I smiled at his thoughtfulness, but I felt alot of guilt because he didn't actually do anything. On the front was Puss In Boots, looking adorable and innocent. I cooed, it was so cute!

''Soo am I forgiven?'' Adam was sat on the chair next to me, when did he even get there? I laughed at my ignorance and at his sweet act. In actual fact, there was no reason for him to be forgiven as he didn't do anything, but I went along.

''Of course you're forgiven!'' I smiled at him, no one had given me anything like this before, they all quited on me before I had the chance to open up. But with Adam, for some reason, I seemed to open up pretty quick.

''Good! Well then, maybe you can accompany me to dinner tonight?'' Adam did this thing, like a side smile, where half of his face lifted; it was cute. But as for his offer, I wasnt sure whether to go or not. I mean it wasn't a date, and we would go as friends.

But i've only known him for a few days, how can I even class him as a friend?! He's my only proper friend, if he is one.

''As friends?'' It was like he read my mind. Bringing me out of my daydream, he handed me a peice of folded up paper. ''If you do decide to come.'' He must've read the uncertainty on my face, as he left.

I looked at the time, crap! I was late for work! My other job was working as a waitress in a posh restaurante in town. I would have to take the bus, with whatever change I found in my purse, but i would still be late! I ran out of college, my legs going as fast as they can; I catched the bus just in time before it left. When I arrived, I went to my locker, put on my uniform, grabbed my notebook and pen and replaced the empty space with my bag and other clothes.

Thankfully, my boss rarely comes out of his office so he didn't notice me coming in late, and my kind colleagues didn't say anything to snitch on me, they just gave me knowing smiles. Four hours later, my hand was killing, I had wrote so many orders, I sighed and sat, seeing if anyone had yet to order or get their meal. There were a few reserved seats, and I wondered who they were for.

Just then, Adam came through the door! He walked through, after talking to the old man about where he was sat, he went over and sat in the reserved section!

Daniel, one of the young chefs who I was fairly friends with, told me to take Adam's order.

He was going to know i'm not a rich, spoilt girl sooner or later, he probably already knew by the way I dress that I am in fact the opposite. Hesitantly, yet somehow confidently I walked to his table.

''Hello, welcome to Pablo's! Are you ready to order?'' I said, as I put my fake cheery voice on. His eyes which were previously glued to his Iphone, were now faced my way.

''Hi.'' The surprise in his voice was unmistakable.

''Hello, sir. Are you ready to order?'' I asked, for the second time. His confusion was passing away, as he realised I worked here.

''Nope, not yet. I'm waiting for someone.'' Adam replied, amusement clear in his beautiful, green eyes. Of course he was waiting for someone, he was undeniably attractive and all the girls probably fell at his feet.

''Okay sir, i'll come back in ten minutes. Would you like any refreshments while you're waiting?''

''You didn't read the note, did you?'' He laughed, ignoring my question. I was really confused now!

''Erm no I didn't.'' I admitted. What does the note have to do with anything right now? He carried on laughing and either he was ignoring me or he didn't hear.

''Either that or I'm being rejected.'' What the fuck is he talking about?

''I don't know what you mean Adam.'' I told him. He laughing was reduced to small chuckles.

''Have you still got the note?'' I nodded. ''Go and read it.'' He ordered simply. I left Adam, and went to my locker, I took my bag out, there at the bottom of the my bag was the note which was now crumpled up.

'Meet me at Pablo's, 9:30 PM! Hopefully, i'll see you there!'

I stared at the paper for what seemed centuries before I started laughing my head off. He was meeting me here! And I stood there completely clueless, asking him what he wanted to order. I must've looked like such an idiot! Returning back to him, I saw his eyes searching for me in the back of the restaurant; I felt special.

''Excuse me sir, but the person you're waiting for won't be dining with you tonight, for they are too busy working.'' I said in my professional, work voice. I coudn't have mistaken the sudden dimness in his eyes, when I said that.

''Well, when does she finish working?'' He asked. I smiled, glad that he would still be up for hanging out.

''In about an hour.'' Just then I had to get some orders off the usual rich people who came to eat here. Too busy working, I forgot all about Adam, who was now eating strawberry cheesecake alone. So when I left work, I just walked straight out, leaving him behind.

''Wow. If you don't want to time spend time with me this much, you could just say next time.'' He panted, probably because he ran out after me, a small smile playing on his cheeks.

''Oh my god! I'm so sorry! I completely forgot you were there, i'm really sorry, I honestly didn't mean to leave you. And i'm really sorry for leaving you in the restaurante, I didn't read the note because I was late for work as it was.'' The guilt inside me was rising. If you haven't noticed I feel guilty at the smallest thing I do: even if I leave my litter on the floor, i'll have to pick it up. He laughed and shrugged.

''Chill, it's not a big deal. I know you won't do something like that on purpose anyway '' He bumped his shoulder gently into mine. ''Look at the moon. I did as he said. It was beautiful, it was a full moon, lighting up the sky along with with the twinkling stars. It was the perfect moment for a romantic scene in a film. But this wasn't a romantic scene and even though Adam was attractive, I didn't like him in that way. I stared silently admiring the world and it's beauty.

''Do you want have a picnic tommorow, since we don't have college?'' He looked at me, I remembered tomorrow was Sunday, my day off, but not for work.

''I'd love to, but I've got work.'' I told him; I would love a day off, a day to relax but that was never going to happen, well at least not tomorrow it woudn't.

''C'mon! You already ditched our dinner tonight, the least you could do is go out with me tommorow; and we could get to know each other better.''

Persuading, I thought, was Adam's strong point.

And I agreed to going to the picnic, we set a time and place, (3:30 PM at the local park) as we went our separate ways.

Randomely, Adam shouted, '' You gotta learn to relax Allison.'' I wondered what he meant, relax for work?

I snuggled in bed, after a quick clean of the house, and realised dad still wasn't home. Oh well, I thought, and I did as Adam had said. Relax. I was probably worrying over nothing anyway.
