1: Dark Days, Decisions, And Dreams

Ok I hope this works. (Also, real quick, this is being written in December 2020. The dates mentioned aren't accurate by any means. So don't pay too much attention to that. Also this first chapter is gonna be a short one just to introduce Y/N. I'll get into the bigger stuff later)

                                                                                              Chapter 1

            I was resting silently as the sound of rain was hitting the window nearby in the living room. I wasn't too sure what today was gonna bring, mostly because last night was restless and my mind wasn't up to speed on my current reality. The house was darkened due to the clouds that brought on such a relaxing tempo from the heavy raindrops that tapped on and coated the window panes. I looked over towards my desk, where all of my work papers, drawings, and sets of books ranging from large to small were stacked. Nothing was new today and I began thinking about everything that happened these last nearly 11 and a half years. 

              Today was June 9th, a very important day in my life an- AW PHOOEY!! I FORGOT TO INTRODUCE MYSELF! My name is (Y/N) (L/N), and I am quite the introverted, quiet cool kinda duck who has a few problems with life as well as a war with inner demons, if that makes any sense. Mostly because it's hard to live day to day life anymore... ANYWAY, I am getting carried away here. Continuing on, now.

   June 9th, an important day to me. And before you ask, yes. It's raining in June. Well, that's because it's still spring here in Calistoa. Summer doesn't start for like another week or two. And, it's off the coast of the Pacific Ocean, where CrAzY weather can happen at random. Anyways, today is special to me because, well, it's the birthday of someone who meant so much to me, my best friend, Della Duck. She's not here now, and hasn't been for over a decade. Dang, so much time has passed... I walked over to my desk and sifted through the assorted papers. I found an old picture of Della and I when we were younger, one that I can remember taking with her. 

            We were hanging out at McDuck Manor, home of Multi-Billionaire Scrooge McDuck, after Della, Scrooge and Donald Duck had just returned from one of their many adventures. I don't exactly remember where they had gone, but I do remember why it was taken. Della was tired from how ever long of a day that was, and wanted to take time to relax and watch a movie. She also had an idea to take a picture with me after her latest endeavor. She had found an old sword and took it home with her, and wanted to show off. She asked Donald to take to picture and wanted me in it with her. I can still remember the beautiful look on her face afterwards.

      It may be evident already, but I was 100 percent aware that I had fallen in love with her. I took a good look at her features in the photo. She had short cut white hair with swoop bangs that covered her left eye slightly and merged perfectly with the feathers on her head. She wore a brown pilot hat with goggles, a darker brown bomber jacket, a light cyan scarf that was given to her as a gift from Donald when they were preteens, and tan shorts. She held this confident, yet smug smile on her face that told everyone around her who she truly was: the niece of Scrooge McDuck, the greatest adventurer and richest duck in the world, she was the best young adventurer of her time, and was deeply loved. 

In situations like this, I find it hard to think straight. I held words on my tongue, and was unaware that I said them out loud."I miss you so much, Delz." (So, "Delz" was a nickname that Donald had called her many times in the past, Della had no problem with me calling her that, So it just stuck.) Aw great, now I was starting to cry. I had cried alot since that dreadful day, the day when giving up was the only option. I never thought about how much pain Donald or Scrooge must be going through, knowing that a beloved niece who might as well have been a daughter, and a twin sister was dead. That's right, Della Duck was dead. And I blame myself for it. I had held out hope for sooooo long that she might return, but that was never the case.
