Spinel pov
I felt myself slowly wake up, I seriously did not get that much sleep that night, and seeing the bed covers about halfway off the bed did NOT make me feel any better. However, what DID make me feel better was that volleyball was right in front of me with her nose almost touching mine, she was sleeping like a beautiful angel. I forgot what happened last night, did anything big happ-
Oh. oh, that’s right, I remember now…
Oh lord, what am I going to do? What if the dream was right?! What if I really don’t deserve volleyball-
“Mmmmmm….” volleyball muttered, she put her arm around my waist and dragged me right up next to her. The feeling of her hospital suit and the understanding that she really cares for me slowly but surely calmed me down. In a matter of seconds, I fell back asleep.
2 hours later
"Well, I was going to, but I don't think right now is the best time to, you should've seen it, Ive never been this worried about her, I have to go now, I need to get to work" i heard volleyball say, my eyes immediately opened when I heard her say "work"
"Crap! I almost forgot about work! I only have-" I looked at the clock, "TWENTY MINUTES TO GET THERE!" but just as I was about to get in my clothes, volleyball stopped me
"Woah woah, hold on! I'm about to tell your boss that your gonna take the day off, I think you need it" volleyball spoke.
"What?" I said, surprised, "you didn't need to do that, I'm perfectly f-"
"Ellie, I work at a HOSPITAL, I know when something's not fine..." volley said, her arms fully crossed.
"Volley, I'm FINE! I know when I need to take a break, and this isn't one of them!"
Volleyball sighed and looked at me sadly "ellie-"
I just got all of my stuff ready to go to work, I didn't even let her finish cause seeing her feel bad for me really puts an impact on my heart, and my heart can't take it right now.
"I'll have to walk to work, but don't worry, I'll go get the car fixed when I'm done!" I shouted as I kissed volleyball on the cheek before running towards the door
"Okgottagogonnabelatebye!!!" I rushed the words together quickly as I basically yeeted myself out the door.
Volleyball pov:
Like a pair of dominos, when spinel left the house, I quickly followed. Once I walked out the door I watched spinel quickly speed down the block, I both watched this in sadness, and in fear...
Spinel's whole situation remind me of someone that I knew who went through a scary phase in their life, but I couldn't remember who...
Later, at work
I sat down my stuff onto my chair so I could go and get a list of the people who needed to be checked out and right when I left my office, I saw the person who I knew could help me with my ellie problem:
Dr priyanka maheswaran, a doctor who has been able to help people who have gone through experiences just like spinel. She had only 2 weeks til retirement so she was just making the most of her remaining time here.
"Dr maheswaran-" I didn't even get to finish before she cut me off
"Please, just call me pri." Pri said nicely, I nodded before saying "pri, Is it ok if you can help me?
"Sure, is one of the patients trying to attack you? It's happen to me before, steven and connie actually had to help me stop the patient and t-"
I cut her off "no, sorry for cutting you off, but no, this is actually about my girlfriend, you see, last night I went into our room and I was about to pr- well, th-that doesn't m-matter..." I said akwardly before continuing "anyways, I went into our room and I saw her just shaking around and screaming in her sleep, so I-"
Pri gasped and had a shocked look on her face, I looked at her in confusion
"The steven path..." pri whispered. "Huh?" I asked
"The steven path Is what I call this one time when my patient was none other than steven, at first it seemed like a normal checkup, he just felt sadder than usual, but it turned out that he was keeping a lot of info from me because later after when I wasn't around he said that he felt useless. Then he went into this whole phase where he just did nothing but exercise for a DANGEROUS amount of time with this one person named, what was her name, I think it was "jasper", to try and be someone other than himself! (Yes, this is a chad steven reference) And then, oh, how could I forget, he tried to get some help, some therapy, but the therapy he got was from this really shady guy named "shards" who just made steven lash out even more! (By the way, just want to say that "shards" is the human vers of monster steven, I know that not many people have made a human version of them so I just wanted to be creative) If it wasn't for connie and Steven's friends, who knows what would have happened to him!"
"Oh my... that's horrible!" I said shockingly "b-but that would NEVER happen, spinel wouldn't lash out like that!"
Pri sighed "maybe.. go and call her, see how's she doing, just in case.." I nodded before leaving the room and going to my phone to call spinel
When she accepted the call, I was greeted with the sound of crying
"Spinel!? Spinel, what happened!?" I said in a panic
"w-well, I-I was on break and watching that one show that you don't like for some reason, b-buffy the vampire slaye-er and In the latest I watched, t-t-t-TARA DIED! Wh-why would the show kill her off!? Willow and her were meant to be!" She said, I knew she was in tears
(Idk why I wanted to add a buffy refrence into this XD)
I sighed in relief, thankfully it wasn't something worse
"Hey, did you get the car fixed?" I asked, "oh yeah, not yet, I'm going to get it into the repair right after my work shift!"
"Ok, sounds good, see ya later" we both hung up, I layed back in my chair and sighed in relief.
I mean, what did I expect? Spinel would NEVER go down the steven path!...
Right?
Spinel pov:
It has been 6 hours since volleyball called me, right now, I was pushing my car into the shop so it could be fixed
"Wow, that's a lot of damage, it'll take some money to get that fixed" a repairman told me
"Ok, but not THAT much money, right?" I said, he gave me a piece of paper with how much money I need
"Oh... so I DO need that much money..."
3 hours later, I sat down on the bench outside of the shop, how am I gonna tell volleyball that I had to pay that much?! She's gonna be so mad!
I crawled into a ball and yelled as loud as I could, my legs muffled my voice. Suddenly, I heard some stranger come up to me
"Are you ok?" I quickly sat right up and looked at the guy, he was Steven's height and had purple spikey hair and had his ears pierced and was wearing dome ripped clothes
"Cause you look like you need some help, and I have some therapy sessions if you need them." He said, I was confused. "I'm sorry, who are you?" I asked
"Oh yeah, should have started with that, heh heh.." he laughed nervously before talking again "well...
