I couldn't believe I even thought that. I had Amber. How could I even ask for another foal? I'm going to do it though. I'm going to tell Aztec.
"Aztec." I whisper while in the pasture. "Can I....speak with you?"
"Ya sure." He responds. His copper fur shines in the sun. His dark chocolate brown mane seems to shimmer. His electric blue highlights look more blue than ever. We trot over to a corner, then I take a deep breath.... and let it out. "I want another foal." I say, wincing. I didn't want to see Aztec's expression.
"Scarlet..." He starts. "To be honest, I want one too." He says, his blue eyes gazing deep into mine. "But..." There's always a but. "We have Amber. Maybe wait until she's older?" He suggests. Tears form in my eyes.
"Okay." I respond, my voice shaking. He nuzzles me and gently kisses my cheek before going back over with Chili, Jimber and Suburst. I layed down in the soft green grass, and watched Amber. I really did want another foal, but Aztec was right. We should wait until she was older.
I sigh, both from frustration and sadness. I couldn't wait until Amber was older. I made a vow to myself right, then and there.
When Amber turned a year old, I would ask again. And even try. Now just to wait six more months.
