"Nice job" I hear Ben's voice barely over the ringing in my head "Are you alright?"
I open my eyes as the light comes blaring in blinding me making my head hurt worse. Ben peeled his helmet off and gloves. He pulled my gloves off and unbuckled my helmet. I hear Nick's voice beside me.
"Gosh, you guys never listen do you?" Nick grunted angrily while lifting my head and Ben peeled my helmet off "Are you okay Jenny?"
"Yeah, Just need to catch my breath" I spoke between huffs while the two sat me up against a pole in the corner
"You didn't have to go so hard on her Ben" I didn't have to have my eyes open to see the glare that Ben received from Nick
"Hey, she said don't go easy. Plus she got a few solid hits in on me. I wasn't going to let the new girl show me up" Ben snickered climbing out of the ring
"Here" Nick shoved a water bottle into my hands which I accepted and sipped slowly catching my breath "Peter, if you're going to keep being rude and reckless I'm going to have no choice but to suspend you"
"What!" Peter yelled furiously "She can't just waltz in here and pretend to know what she's doing. She can't train here with us, she's a girl"
"She's a girl who would easily kick your ass" Nick retorted angrily "Don't make me warn you again"
I heard the bell to the door ring and I laid my head back.
"How do you feel?" Nick asked worriedly moving my face checking for any major damage "You might get a black eye, you definitely have a fat lip too"
"Oh well" I shrug slowly taking deep breaths
"You're playing a dangerous game with Peter. I don't know what's going on, but you need to watch what you're doing" Nick warned as something cold was placed to my face making me jump to realize Nick was holding an ice pack to my cheekbone "Ben got you good. Damn, I'll have to talk to him"
"Don't" I shake my head slowly as the pain in my head jumped to a million times what it was "It's my fault"
"I don't let people fight who aren't matched, I shouldn't have let you guys fight" Nick started ranting about how this was his fault, but I just ignored him and rest my eyes
"He's good" I mutter after a bit of silence and crack my eyes open slowly letting the light in
"Yeah" Nick replied from beside me "He's the best one here. He's my star fighter" We sat in silence as I slowly poked at my numb face seeing how bad it hurt or didn't hurt, it wasn't too bad. "Where do you live? I'll drop you home"
"I rode my bike" I shook my head slowly starting to pull myself to my feet wincing from the pain in my body
"I'll have someone drop it off at your house or I will later, you can't drive yourself home" Nick insisted while standing beside me watching me carefully
"Fine" I nod slowly climbing out of the ring, everyone was in smaller groups chattering amongst themselves watching me as I limped towards the door "I'm staying in the Vanice house"
"What?" Nick gasped grabbing his shirt and keys running to the door behind me "You're living with Peter?"
"Unfortunately" I fake a smile as I grab my bag and shoes by the lockers and bench beside the door
The ride home was quiet. We had small talk about our lives, learning Nick's parents are both lawyers and disowned him when he followed his dream of opening a boxing gym. I explained how my dad and mom separated when I was seven and haven't seen my mom since. And my dad is gone. Nick pulled up the driveway and parked the car.
