"layla georgia albarn!" i heard a voice roared from the living room

"shit" i muttered, turning to look at missy standing beside me with a horror expression, "h-hey dad?" i asked unsurely

dad's figure suddenly came rushing out, with a phone in his hand, "don't hey dad me!" he said with an unreadable face

"what's wrong?" i asked, hoping he hasn't seen the article. i'd be damned if he did, but again, luck was never on my side, "layla" dad said once again, this time with a strict tone

i sighed finally giving up, "look dad, i just thoug-"

"layla, what the hell did i just tell you earlier today!" he cuts me off, throwing his hands as he talks, "dad, layla's just-"

"missy, go to your room" he cuts her off, "but dad-" missy seemingly nodded when dad glares at her, missy looked back looking at me apologetically

i brought my head down, looking at my feet, finding it the most interesting thing in this situation right now. i heard dad sighed, as he walks away to the kitchen. i decided to follow him, trailing behind like a lost puppy with it's tail curling down

"dad, it's not a big deal" i stated unsurely, i immediately regret it when dad slammed the glass cup he was holding down to the counter. i scrunched my nose, preparing for what's gonna come

"not a big deal? layla, are you hearing yourself? you lied to me" he motioned his hand up to nothing to be exact

"well yeah, for that i'm deeply sorry" i muttered, looking back at the ground

"and i told you specifically, to stay away from liam's kids!"

"why? what is it that bothers you so much with me hanging out with them!?" i asked finally getting frustrated at him, "i'm not a child anymore dad, you can't always hold me on guard like this! and missy's hanging out with them too, why is she not getting scolded"

"i don't want you to hang out with anyone who relates to a gallagher. that's it, layla, is that so much to ask for. and I know you asked your sister to come with you" he stated

"what do you mean? so much to ask for? you were okay with me hanging out with anais, why is it so bad now?" i furrowed my eyebrows at him, "dad, this is getting ridiculous. i'm 19, soon to be 20 in a few weeks. missy just turned 21! I'm sick of it, you can keep on hating the gallagher's but just don't bring us into this. we have nothing to do with you guys' rivalry"

i looked back at dad who has his back facing me, "I'm going now, think this through again" i roll my eyes walking backward, heading out the kitchen and started walking up the stairs

I headed towards missy's bedroom, feeling not wanting to alone right now

stupid rivalry, stupid rules, stupid conflicts

i knocked on missy's door softly, "who is it?" missy asked from behind the door

"layla" i muttered softly, the door opened revealing missy with a worried expression, "lays, what happened down there?"

I went inside, immediately jumping on her bed, face down, "nuffin, we juf talked, and, dad's being shtubborn" my voice was my muffled by her comforter

missy laughed softly at me, until another knocked was heard. i looked at missy confused, she shrugged at me standing up to open the door

"hey girls" dad greeted softly, "can i come in?" his eyes were teary, and he was sniffing every once in a while

"d-dad, have you been crying?" i asked worried, i grabbed his hand pulling him down to sit on missy's bed, missy closed the door, sitting beside dad as well

he laughed quietly, me and missy giggle at him, as i brought him into a hug, "why are you crying" i asked holding his face in my hands, i wiped his leftover tears with the pad of my thumb

"i'm sorry" he muttered looking down in shame

i stared at missy, smiling sadly, "don't be, you were just worried. we understand, dad" missy said rubbing his back

"you were right, i had no rights to limit who you can hang out with, it has nothing to do with me. my feud with the gallagher's already happened in the past, and i can't bring you guys into it" he confessed, "i trust you guys, you both are tough, and you guys are mature enough to make your own decisions"

"thanks dad," i smiled softly

"just- promise me something. promise you'd protect each other at all costs. missy, promise me you'd protect your little sister?"

"i promise dad" missy replied

"and you too, layla" he asked, turning his head to look at me

"yeah, yeah" i muttered, rolling my eyes jokingly, "it's getting late, you guys had an exhausting night, huh?"

"yeah, thanks dad" i grinned at him

"and one more thing" he started, as he stands up heading towards the door

"what is it?" missy asked

"always use protection"

"dad!" me and missy exclaimed at the same time, "oh come on, you both got damon albarn's gene. because when i was your age, boy! i was on a roll-"

"enough! we'll save this conversation for later, it's late we should head to bed" i cut him off, staring at him bewildered

"say that especially at layla, she got some admirers" missy laughed at me

"missy! shut up"

he laughed at our reaction, shaking his head, "tell me if one of them hurt you, lays. i'll snap their neck for you"

"oh for sure, i'd love to see that" i stared at missy and dad with wide eyes, "you guys are out of your minds! goodnight!" i whined, heading out the door, pulling dad with me

i heard missy laughed as i closed her door, "i'm being for real though lays" he said raising an eyebrow

"of course you are" i huffed, heading towards my room, "goodnight dad" i smiled softly bringing him in a hug once again

i lay my head on his chest, as he sways us side to side gently. he kissed my forehead before muttering a 'goodnight sweetheart'

i let him go, kissing his cheek in return. i waved at him softly, opening the door to my room

that turned out well
