Day 2
School. The social jackpot for every teenager; Beverly looked out into the sea of strangers. Today was her first day of school. Her dad had got promoted to chief of police and they had to move to the small strange town. She walked into her first class a couple of stares and evil glares, boring eyes into her face. She took a seat in the front not wanting to be a bother to others. Moments later a girl walked in carrying a rusty case that most possibly held a violin in it, because of its shape. Suddenly the vibe of the class room changed to a taciturn quiet. You could hear the clatter of her shoes as she walked. She took a seat a few chairs behind Beverly who didn’t dare to look back. Moments later the teacher finally walked in dragging a boy by the ear.
“Mr. Gates, take a seat! “The old teacher said pointing to the chair next to Beverly. The boy walked over and took a seat.
“Mrs. Bone I have a first name.” he smiled” and its Luke” he whispered into Beverly’s ear. Beverly was riled and shoved the boy away from her. The preconscious dislike of this Luke boy had developed inside of her. The spooky girl raised her hand.
“Yes, Lila.” Mrs. Bone said to her.
“Please excuse my brother, you know how teenagers are.”
“Well thank you, I will take that into recognition.” Mrs. Bone walked to the door and pulled down some sort of paper over the window. She started the lesson soon afterward. While she did that Beverly started to examine how many teenagers were getting comfy in their chair for a long 35 minute nap. She tapped her pencil and casually stared at the clock. She gave up on the time then her eyes wandered looking around at the people in the class room. The girl who sat across from her with pink hair and to many piercings to count was actually paying attention. The preppy looking boy that had glasses happened to be the boy who was texting under the desk. Who knows he could be texting the notes Beverly smirked at her own inside joke. Beverly pretended to drop her pencil to look at the people behind her. Lila the girl with the rusty violin case was dashing her hands across a paper. Towards more of the back kids shoes were off and food and drinks were being passed under the tables. This class is more like a happy hour she thought.
“Did your pencil fall to hell or something?”Luke asked looking fairly lost. The gift from god bell rang; Beverly didn’t dare to move from her seat to fast for the risk of being trampled. Lila walked by right before Beverly. The case had an intoxicating smell leak from it. That is not a violin she thought. Beverly causally departed the class but looking back at the door. She saw an old picture of a class working and Mrs. Bone teaching plastered on the front on the door window blocking any signs of a bad class. Beverly now knew one thing this school is not like any school she has seen before.
“Good job Lila I think you are ready for the recital coming up this November.” The old lady with glass said to the expressionless teenager. Lila took her time to pack up her violin in to her rusty case. She gave a small smile to the lady and responded.
“Thank you Mrs. Kenon, I appreciate your help in my violin playing capability.” She casually grabbed her music from the music stand and walked out of the room.
Walking down the hallways of her school were the most stressful times for Lila. People would wonder why, but to her they were all seen as enemies even her brother Luke.
Oh Lila
Lila looked around startled as she continued her walk down the hallways. She could feel the eyes boring into her as people thought she was crazy.
Lila what’s wrong dear have a need to kill; the hiss of the demons words made her delirious.
NO, Lila thought to herself; and with that Lila feel to the cold hard ground unable to set herself free from the pain and thoughts that occupied her mind.
Luke stared at the girl he had just met only an hour ago. She has yet to fall for me he thought to himself. Beverly. The name was just a name of a character in fresh prince of bell-air to him that hour before. However; now it seemed to be the name of a new target for him; Maybe not. She seemed like a girl with wit and high standards. He will just have to work, because there is nobody in this school who could live up to her expectations than him or so he thought.
Currently sitting in one of the most prized gym in the state with Beverly was just a way of god telling him it was meant to be. Beverly looked great in her certified gym wear that pervert Jim picked out for the school; he was the gym teacher after all. This day couldn’t get any better he thought.
“Luke!” he looked over to see one of his friends calling him.
“What?” he said very bewildered as to why he was yelling his name in an urgent manner.
“Lila fainted in the hallway” that was all it took to ruin his day. Luke loved his sister; even though she was awfully eccentric he still cared very much for her no matter what.
Luke ran out of gym of course to find his sister. Beverly who was listening to the conversation couldn’t help to feel remorse for Luke. She being the Beverly she was; she hurried after him, not knowing why.
Beverly walked into the room that looked more like a hospital than nurse’s office with an apprehensive look on her face. She was glad to see the nurse what not at her desk to ask why she’d come. Beverly walked inside to see Luke sitting next to a figure that seemed to be unconscious out on a bed.
Luke turned around to see if the nurse had returned; just to see Beverly. His eyes were glossy and he face was blank. Beverly walked closer and pulled Luke up out of the chair and gave him a hug. Luke was still taken aback to see Beverly there; but hesitant to hug her back he did. Luke didn’t cry, but remained frozen. He felt as if she were someone he had known for years.
The sound of groaning made the hug come to an end.
