"Lily , hey." I say quietly, shoving the rest of my second period books in my locker and turning halfway to look at her.

"Hey, Soph. How've you been? I didn't see you all weekend." She sounds tired, sighing while she throws some of her stuff in her locker and begins to take some things out.

"I'm ok." I lie, throwing my bag back over my shoulder, trying to ignore the itch the cast is causing, completely facing her now. "Have you seen Andy?"

I was planning on talking to him today, to apologize for overreacting, but I haven't seen him all morning.

"Not at all. Have you seen Sonny?"

"Nope."

She shakes her head. "Where are the guys today?"

I shrug. "Dunno. What about Harper?"

"I'm not sure. I saw Rye in third period, but I haven't seen Harper."

After I left on Sunday, Harper promised me he'd be at school today. The little shit. I sigh deeply.

"Ok. Let's get to class, we're gonna be late."

She nods, following me as I stumble awkwardly down the hall.

"What happened between you and Andy anyway? He refused to tell me anything."

"I really just want to drop it." I say bluntly, walking into third period and plopping down into a seat. Lily follows behind me.

"Ok." She shrugs.

That's one of the tons of things I love about Lily. She doesn't ask many questions.

I look over at the only empty seat in the room, knowing it would belong to Harper, if he were here. I've spent too many days studying him like a creep from across the room. He's always just had this kind of mysterious vibe to him, and it's always had me curious, but I never could muster up the courage to talk to him. Screw that now.

"Sophie" The teacher growls angrily, and I turn my attention to him. "I've called your name three times. Pay attention."

I nod quickly. "Sorry, sir."

Lily laughs quietly beside me, and I elbow her.

"Harper Dark." The teacher says.

No answer.

"Harper Dark." He repeats.

Still no answer. The teacher sighs in annoyance, scribbling on the attendance sheet, moving on to the next person.

"Rye." I catch him by the arm before he can walk into the lunchroom. He glances at me sideways, looking a little irritated.

"What?"

"Where's Harper?"

He hesitates, then shrugs. "He said he wasn't feeling well."

"Jesus." I huff, turning around to check if any teachers are in the hall. "I think I'm gonna skip the rest of the day and go find Andy, then check on Harper."

Rye snorts. "No telling where Andy is." I glare at him.

"I'm surprised Soph." He continues snarkily. "Little goody two shoes is skipping school. We're making progress here."

I scoff. "Oh shut up. Go eat your pizza, I'm leaving."

He laughs, smirking. "Ooooook princess. Don't go exploring any other abandoned buildings by yourself now."
