*Carley*

I was in my last period class, staring at the clock.
5 more minutes of this hell.
I looked back at the board and copied the last few words of Science notes.

"Alright everyone, as you know we have a big science project coming up. I will take these last few minutes to assign you're partners. "
The teacher spoke in a dead, boring voice.
"Amanda and Chris, Taylor and Ashton, Kristen and Matt, Tristan and Zach, Jade and Mikey, Carley and Jack, Monica and Rachel."
I turned around and stole a quick look at Jack, who was already looking at me.

He smiled at me and I turned back around.

The bell rang, signaling that school was over.
Everyone jumped up and grabbed the remaining books on the tables.
"Have a great weekend everyone!" The teacher called out to he kids, even tho we all knew she didn't really care.
I picked up my notebook and pencils, quickly walking out of the classroom and into the hallway.

As I was walking to my locker a hand wrapped around my wrist and turned me around.
Jack.
"Hey babe." He said with a smile.
Babe. I loved it when he called me babe.
"Hey." I said back.
"Still coming to the party?" He asked
"Course! I wouldn't pass up a chance to dance with you. Oh! And you should come over sometime so we can work on the project." I responded
He laughed a little and let go of my wrist.
"I'll text you." And with that, he walked off.
Smiling to myself, I put my books in my locker and grabbed my bag.
I walked down the long hall and out the doors, reviving whistles and winks as I went.
I got into my car and drove off.
As I got to my house I noticed an unfamiliar car in the driveway.
I pulled up next to it and got out.
I walked up to the door and could hear screaming and yelling.
My heart dropped and my throat tightened.
Dad's back.
I threw open the door and ran inside.
My mom was sitting on the kitchen floor with her hands over her ears. Tears streamed down her face as the man I used to call dad, screamed at her.
He stopped yelling and turned in my direction.
"And there she is. The slut." He spat.
Ya, it stung a little.
"You don't deserve any of this." He picked up his arm and motioned around the house.
"Whores like you don't deserve anything except pain."
He stepped closer and I could smell the alcohol on his breath.
He brought his hand up and slapped my face.
It didn't hurt, it never hurt when he hit me.
I laughed a little.
"All these years and still haven't gotten any stronger. You're threats mean nothing to me! Get the hell out of this house." I shouted as I pointed to the door.
"Or what? Are you going to hurt me?"
He asked in a mocking tone.
And with that I grabbed his shoulders, brought my knee up, and kneed him where it hurts.
He doubled over in pain and I spoke again.
"Now. Get you're sorry ass up and get the hell out of our lives."
He picked himself up and walked out.
I ran over to my mom who was sitting on the floor, tears still spilling out of her eyes.
"It's okay, he's gone." I calmed her.
I wrapped my arms around her and helped her up.
"You're so strong. And don't believe those thing he said." She cooed.
I nodded my head and walked off.

I only got halfway up the stairs when I remembered the party.
"Hey mom?" I asked.
"Yes?" She asked back.
"It's alright if I go to Jack's party tonight, right?"
She nodded her head and smiled.
"Just don't do anything stupid." She said.
I nodded and walked up the remaining steps.

Once I got into my room I walked into the bathroom.
I turned on my phone and put my music on shuffle, letting random songs play.
I turned on the shower and hopped in.

I washed my long brown hair, my body, and I shaved my legs.
After I was done, I wrapped a towel around my body and one around my head.
I walked back into my room and over to the closet.
I soon chose a tight black dress that ended far above my knees.
I paired the dress with red heels.

"Perfect." I whispered to myself.
