She was beautiful.
No, she was perfect.
With her little nose, and those big brown eyes staring up at you. Her brown hair and her little hand gripping your finger. She looked so much like Cinder that it amazed Kai. Every time she looked at him he immediately saw Cinder. But the hair was all his.
It's been almost a year and Rose was already 8 months old. Time has gone very fast. Kai could still remember every doctor appointment they had gone to, every mood swing Cinder had, the first time they heard Rose's heart beating.
They had a lot of problems with the pregnancy and even before. They had been trying to have a baby for almost two years, but no avail. Cinder had three miscarriages and she was ready to give up. But Kai knew that she just couldn't let her hopes crush down again.
So they took a break. Kai suggested that they would go on a vacation and relax but Cinder wanted to focus on work.
And that was what they did.
They worked and worked and hardly paid any attention to each other. They began to drift apart. But Kai couldn't let that happen, and apparently neither could Cinder. They talked and decided to give it another try.
Cinder got pregnant and soon she was in labor, and then Rose was born. The most beautiful and magical thing Kai had ever seen.
He loved her beyond words. Two arms wrapped around his middle cut off his thoughts. He didn't have to turn around to know who it was, she probably woke up a few minutes ago.
"What are you thinking about?" Cinder asked.
"How happy I am."
It was true. Kai was happy and he wouldn't trade it for the world.
"I'm glad you're happy. Because as long as you are happy I am happy." She said and tip tied to kiss his cheek.
But this was no way to kiss.
He turned around and kissed Cinder.
She broke the kiss with a little laugh."Come on, we have to get ready."
"She looks just like you." Kai said, ignoring her statement. He didn't want to start the day with meeting and filling files. He just wanted to stay in this moment for a little bit longer.
"I think she looks like you. She has that warmth in her eyes; just like you."
"I disagree."
"And I agree to disagree. Let's just say it took two to tango."
Kai chuckled and said,
"You're right. I love you.""I love you too, honey."
Kai hugged her tight and buried his face in her neck. They stood like that for awhile, without a care in the world and completely happy.
"We should have a date tonight."
"Why?" Cinder asked.
"Because we deserve it. We worked so hard lately and been busy with Rose that we didn't really have much time for our selves." Kai said.
"Yeah, you're right. Let's have dinner on the balcony, okay?" Cinder said and looked up at him. Stars, how much he loved those eyes of hers. He could get lost within seconds.
"I'm in."
"Good, cause if you weren't then I would just had dinner with myself and that doesn't seem very fun."
He didn't reply and just put his head on top of hers and closed his eyes. Kai didn't know when he got so lucky having the most amazing wife in the world and his lovely daughter.
"This is very fun and all, but we should really get ready." Cinder said breaking the hug.
"When will the nanny come?"
"I'll stay and feed Rose when she'll wake up and I guess I'll take her to the nursery at ten or eleven."
"Alright them. I'm gonna hit the shower if you want to join." Kai said with a wink.
"I just might. I'll be there in a few."
He nodded and went inside the bathroom, feeling whole and complete.
Because he has everything he's ever wanted; happiness.
