(33) Aftermath: Day 7

A week had gone by their parents had been switching off between staying at the hotel and the hospital. Their vitals had been getting stronger with each passing day. Their coloring was getting better as well. James was sitting on the couch in the room as his wife was asleep on his shoulder. 

Karter and Delilah had gone back to the hotel to get some sleep a shower and food. As he sat there and watched his son and his daughter in law. Movement caught his eye from Bucky's bed. His fingers was starting to move one by one. 

"Winnie doll wake up.." he whispered 

She looked up at him as he walked towards Bucky's bed. He took his hand. 

"Son it's dad..you are alright..just squeeze my hand." He whispered 

Bucky squeezed as he opened his eyes in a panic. "Breathe mama gone to get the nurse." James said 

The nurse came in and removed the tube. "My wife where is she? I need to see my wife.." he said as tears welled. 

"Son relax..you will pop a stitch." James said 

"Dad please tell me she is okay. She wasn't moving and she was barely talking.." he whispered 

James looked down and opened the curtain to reveal Harlow's bed. "Harlow baby.." he whispered 

"She's alright son. She just needs to wake up." Winnie said

"I am allowed to get up." He said 

James lowered his bed rail since he knew the nurse also pulled the Catheter out. James helped him over to Harlow's bed. He gently caressed her face. "Baby please wake up please don't leave me.." he whispered as he kissed her temple. 

"James.." she whispered

"Call K and D Winnie." James said

"Already doing it.." Winnie said 

The nurse came back in and unhooked her from everything. She slowly began to open her eyes. 

"Baby..oh my gosh. I have never been so happy to see your big blue eyes." He whispered as he kissed her. 

Thirty minutes later the room was filled with family and friends. Bucky's bed had been pushed next to hers. Once all their friends left. 

"So the person that shot you two has been arrested. It was Lucas....and apparently it was Maxie who told him where you all were. She was in the library pretending to study." Karter said 

"So they plotted together?" Harlow said 

"Yes.." James said 

"What about her kid?" Bucky said 

"Oh she's been placed with her father." Winnie said 

"They are being charged with attempted murder conspiracy to commit murder. Harassment drugs." Karter said 

"Oh wow." Harlow said as she held Bucky's hand. He kissed the side of her head and whispered "love you." 

"Love you." She said 

"We will be back tomorrow after we get some sleep." James said 

"Okay." They said as their parents left the room.
