18 years later
*knock, knock*
"Alpha Storm," I hear Anya say outside my door. I groan and roll over in my bed. It's been eighteen years since I ran away from home. Time flies by when you have a whole pack to look after. Today I have to get plans for renovating this house for the millionth time for new coming wolves. I hate mating season, too much love and happiness. "You need to get your ass out of the bed now Juneau, you have lots of paperwork to fill out. The new wolves are coming soon," Anya says.
Anya and I met when I was in my teens. She found out I was living on my own and since then has been a thorn in my side. "I wouldn't be a thorn in your side if you actually didn't need wake-up calls and you actually used your alarm clock," Anya adds on as she opens the blinds, morning sun blinding me. "I really wish you would stop reading my mind, it's creepy ya know." She just shakes her head and laughs as she walks out.
I finally get out of bed, got dressed, and threw my hair into a messy bun, cause I'm lazy. Plus, I have to go tracking later, which is going to be painful. "Morning Alpha," I hear my gammas say. I nod my head and continue walking till I'm near the field. I haven't shifted in a while, so I decided to go for a morning run. I take off in a jog, then sprint into the air and let her forward.
Sometimes I think my wolf thinks she is still a pup and not fully grown. I let her take the lead on this and let her stretch her legs. When I get back, I can see Anya waiting by the packhouse for me. Now I know what my father went through when new wolves came, this paperwork sucks. "Did she have fun?" Anya asks, I nod my head. "Yeah, I let her take the lead on that one, so she is happy and calm."
Anya nodded her head. "I left all the paperwork on your desk for you to finish. Also, you have to stop by the training field to check on the newbies." I nod my head acknowledging I'm listening. "Hey Anya, where's my-." I turn around and in her hand is a cup of coffee, I sigh and give her a small smile and give her a small kiss on the cheek. "Call if you need me, I won't be back till tomorrow. Have to go visit the coven today and get more herbs and crystals." I nod my head and watch as she gets in her car and drives off.
It's now about noon and time for lunch. I walk down the stairs of the packhouse nodding my head to the other wolves and make my way to the kitchen. As I enter, I see my good friend Rin. She is snacking on some peppers; I walk over and steal some. "Hey, those are-, oh it's you." I look at her a little hurt, "Whoa, don't jump up and down. I live here, I'm not new," I reply with sarcasm. She rolls her eyes and replies, "Very funny Jun, very funny." I smirk and walk over to the fridge for some water. "Aww, Rinnie-boo, I thought you loved me," I say with a smirk and a hint of sarcasm. Rin rolls her eyes and continues reading her book.
"Rin, I thought you would be out about now hunting to stack up on blood?" I ask her. She looks up from her book, "I can survive till tonight Jun, I'm not a kid anymore." She says and I smirk, "In age, you're not a kid but to me, you always will be." Rin rolls her eyes and goes back to reading as I get some food and a bottle of water and go back to my office to finish the last of the paperwork.
*knock, knock*
"Come in," I say as a gamma walks in. "Alpha Storm, there is a wolf at the border claiming she is from the Shadow Pack," my gamma Josh says. I nod my head and walk with him, "Did you catch her name by any chance." Josh shakes his head no, "She said she wanted to speak to the Alpha, no one else." I nod and start sprinting before I lung into my wolf. Josh leads the way to the border and as we get closer, I can smell the other wolf. I go over to a tree and shift back to my skin form. When I look and see who it is I freeze in my tracks.
"M-Megan? Is that really you?" I ask and she looks over and pure shock and happiness rolls over her face. "J-Juneau, you're alive? Everyone thinks you're dead," she says as she runs over and hugs me, then proceeds to punch my arm. Yup, same old Megan, glad one thing hasn't changed. "People think I'm dead? That's a new one," I say as she continues to glare at me then poke my face. I slap her hand and say, "You're not dreaming dude, I'm really here. In the flesh. Living and breathing."
