This second story is based off of a creepy story I created when I was younger. The story was about a string of disappearances related to animals. I decided to change it a bit because I created this story around the same time I created stories about possessed backpacks and a girl terrified of everything. To be honest, at the time these stories were more jokes than creepy stories, and weren’t meant to be taken seriously. However, I felt the idea behind the story was creative and I thought it deserved to be recreated into a more… serious story. Anyways, enjoy!
Summer. A joyful, bright time meant to make people feel warm and safe. Summer can also become a disaster in the span of a few days. It all started with a girl. She went out camping alone, but never came home. When the search party found her camp, it was in shambles. There were no signs of the girl, and due to the marks around the area, the police determined the most likely cause was a bear. Around the area. Claw marks covered the trees and something large tore her tent to shreds. However, the area she was in had no prior cases of bear attacks.
Next, a report claimed a woman had watched as a wolf dragged a little boy into a graveyard. The report was in Illinois, where wolves are very uncommon, and the kid was in the suburbs when he was dragged away. The police couldn’t explain how a wolf got there in the first place, and they failed to find where the wolf took the little kid.
This continued happening, reports of people disappearing due to animals in areas where they wouldn’t normally be found, then the pattern changed.
In Michigan, a girl and her friends decided to go to Lake Michigan to have some summer fun. However, something unexpected crashed their trip. While swimming in the lake, one of the teens claimed they saw something big swimming around. “It’s just your imagination! This is Lake Michigan! The biggest thing you can find around here is a sturgeon! We’ll be fine!” His friend assured him. However, they were wrong. The girl was swimming further away from the rest of the group, when something bit into her leg. Everything that happened after that was chaotic, however the teens who caught a glimpse of the creature claimed it was a shark. A large shark. “It wasn’t a Great White… it was too small to be a great white. Besides, Great Whites only live in Australia and the Antarctic. It had to be a Bull Shark. But that’s impossible! The last time someone caught a Bull Shark in Lake Michigan was back in the 1950’s!” That was what one of her friends told the police.
What made this time different from the last? This was the first time they found a body. After that day, more bodies started popping up. Each one was caused by an animal that was not supposed to be in the area.
At least, that’s what everyone thought…
It just never added up. Why were these animals appearing all across the world, and why now? Was it because of climate change? No… it couldn’t be. Climate change wouldn’t cause animals to become more violent and travel to areas they don’t normally live in… would it? Were the animals sick? What kind of sickness affects all animals… Maybe it was just a coincidence. A strange coincidence to say the least…
But not all people agreed with these theories. While some tried to blame it on old creepy pastas and cryptids from the past like the Rake, others began creating a new monster, one more sinister…
Some people called this monster the Watching Shadow. Descriptions claim that this monster is a black, muscular creature that walks on all fours and reaches 8 feet. Also, many people believe this creature can shapeshift into animals, which explains the animal sightings. Some have even claimed that this creature has white, empty eyes. However, the exact shape is unclear. Some say it has fur and wolf-like ears and tail. Others claim it was just a plain, almost human like features. It's never entirely clear what’s true and what’s false.
And while that hasn’t changed, current reports say that this creature is currently in the town of Willow Creek, North Dakota, waiting in the shadows for its next unsuspecting victim...
A/N: I'm really sorry guys! Today's story was kinda short, but don't worry! The next short is gonna be a special one! Also, after I post tomarrows story, I thought I could to a small break. For the break, I'll be talking about Willow Creek, North Dakota, where most of my stories take place. Then, I'll post another three stories. But until then, have a fantastic day!
