I've thought long and hard about how I want to handle content/trigger warnings in fiction, particularly serialized fiction. Because there is nothing overly graphic in this story, I will not be placing content warnings at the beginnings of chapters; instead I will list them here.
If you'd like a more detailed overview of the content warnings and where they occur, please message me privately and I'll be happy to chat and tell you what you'd like to know! You have every right to know what you're reading and if the content will be triggering.
Likewise, if you feel that a content warning should be added and I've not already done so, please tell me so I can add it to this list.
Content Warnings:
Sexual assault - referenced
Alcohol/drugs - referenced, depicted
Addiction - referenced
Partner abuse - referenced, depicted
Suicide - referenced
Self-harm - referenced
LGBTQ discrimination/issues - referenced
Animal abuse - referenced
Final note: This list isn't meant to scare anyone off or show how hardcore the story is. At the end of the day, this is a love story. But everyone has a variety of life circumstances that contribute to the way they love and live, and I think that's important to show. Characters don't just grow up in a blank void and then spring forth into romance novels (or at least they shouldn't).
