I sped off into the woods, hoping to catch up with my new pack. I attempted the mind link to ask where they're at.

"Gianna, can you hear me?"

"Loud and clear!"

"Good, where are you all right now?"

"Uh, the best way I can describe it is on top of a pretty steep hill. We can see the boulder not too far ahead."

"Alright, thank you. I should be there in about 10 minutes."

"Did you manage to kill that son of a bitch?"

"Yeah, but I'll spare you the details."

"Fine, just make sure you get here in one piece. We had to pass by rouge territory on our way here."

I mentally slapped myself. How could I be so careless as to forget about the rouge territory?

"Shoot, are you all okay? Is anybody injured?"

"Thankfully, no. We didn't actually encounter any rouges, but we could smell them near by."

"Ok, that's good. I'm going to shut you out now. I'll see you in a bit."

"See ya."

I let out a sigh of relief because nobody was hurt, but it is strange that they didn't have to fight off any rouges, though. Rouges are normally very protective of "their" land. They don't really own any land, but the claim they do. So when others are near, they usually attack because they feel threatened.

I continue walking for what seems like forever, but then I smelled them. I was nearing the rouge territory and knew they would not be pleased with a trespasser. I braced myself to be cornered or circled or something, but nothing ever came.

It was like all the rouges went on a vacation at the same time. But that's impossible considering I can smell them near by.

I stop in my tracks and listen for something, anything... but had no luck. This was too strange.

I decided to move closer to their land, hoping to get a glimpse of something, but the closer I got, the less I smelled their scent. I've never witnessed anything like this before, and I was starting to get creeped out, so I told myself I would come back tomorrow and then took off again.

. . .

Once I arrived at the boulder my heart sank deep into my chest. The air smelled like fresh blood, and so many bodies I recognized littered the ground. I held in my scream and held back my tears.

I ran closer, hoping, praying that someone survived.  I look around, trying to spot a familiar face, but I saw no one.

This time I didn't stop the tears from falling.  Why didn't they mind link me?! I could have saved them!  I could have saved them all!  But my stupid ego needed to stay behind to kill that monster.  MY STUPID EGO!

I ran around, looking for two people in particular... Gianna and Tilly.  At this point I'm frantic, I feel my chest tense up and a knot form in my stomach.  No matter where I look, I can't seem to find them.
