Men have always wanted to be remembered, to be immortalized. They have always wanted for their name's to be known across countries and for centuries. Men have searched for that immortality for centuries, but only few have truly found it. We men are silly creatures, for we do not know that what we were looking for, was in front of ours eyes all along.
Deaven's POV
I can still remember when I first saw her like it was yesterday. She was dancing in the mud; laughing and crying at the same time. There was a crowd of people in front of her, even though it was pouring buckets and I was drawn, the same as them. What drew me to that spectacle, I am not sure even now. Maybe it was her laughter, tinkling in the air like fairy bells, or the sight of all those people crowded together, but I walked right up to it was pushed through until I was face to face with her. And the one thought left in my head was that she was an angel.
Her face was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. The tears tracking down her face along with the rain did not take away from that beauty; instead it seemed to magnify the fact. She broke my heart with that hauntingly gorgeous look on her face. As she was dancing I only wanted to sweep her into my arms and tell her everything was okay, that everything was going to be all right. That beautiful picture of her dancing was like a haven for my broken body and soul.
When her dance came to an end I waited for all the people to disperse, so I could go up to her and ask her for her name. But that time never came, for the people surged forward for an encore and a man I did not notice behind her, stood up and guided her away. And with her my heart has always stayed.
Afterwards, I asked the few remaining people in the crowd who she was and they answered with a laugh. "Oh her!" They'd say "She's a beauty alright, that she is! She travels from town to town with her brother and give dances for the money. Her name is Anilyse.
In the end I stayed there for another week, wanting to catch a glimpse of the girl who had stolen my heart, but she had disappeared. It was like she had never been there in the first place. Finally a villager, taking pity on me, told me that she had left with her brother for the next town over. Disappointed, I left and I never thought I would see her again. Oh, how wrong I was. I would see her again very soon, but I had no way of knowing that that meeting wouldn't be as pleasant as the first.
