After tending to Billies foot, I started working in the kitchen, hoping to find something I knew how to make. A few minuets later tre came walking in, leaning against the wall. He sighed.
"Mike I don't know what your going to do about that kid but I guess he looks happier here than at some hospital. But I mean what are you gonna do with him? It's not like he can live here forever." I didn't have an answer for that. I honestly never had the chance to think about what to do with Billie. I knew he needed help and protection but who am I protecting him from and what exactly happened to him? Doesn't he have parents or family to go to? What about a girlfriend or fuck even a wife? Are people searching for him? Oh shit I really hope he's not some wanted felon. What could he really do though? The kid could hardly stand without assistance and he was to physically weak to throw a decent punch. So maybe escaped convict wasn't his former occupation but still, I needed to figure out what I was dealing with.
"Honestly tre, I need to know what happened to him before I do anything. He could have family waiting for him and if that's the case then I can take him home but if not then I really don't know. For now help me take breakfast out there and we can try talking to him." Tre just nodded, grabbing the plates and setting them up in the living room coffee table. I made a makeshift tray (ok it was just a cutting board, let me sound a little fancy) placing a plate heaping with pancakes and bacon over billies lap. I questioned whether or not I should give him smaller increments of food, based on the way he devoured his food last night, but I decided against it thinking that hopefully he'd have more control and not choke. As my arm was pulling away from the tray he gripped my wrist, tighter than I though he had the strength for.
"Thank you. For everything. I would been dead if you didn't find me last night. I'm sorry for being your burden and I promise ill leave by tonight."
"No." Both tre and Billie stared at me as if I was totally insane, fuck maybe I am.
"Billie no. Your not being a burden trust me Ive had worst house guest, he happens to be in this room. And your still way to weak to leave on your own. Just stay here for a while and get better then we can figure things out from there. Besides I kinda need to ask you some questions, if you feel up to it?" He sighed, looking down then over at the back of the couch then back to his knees then finally up at me.
"Fine. But it's a long story, just warning you."
I was in for a long day.
