Dear Cassandra,

I am writing this letter to demonstrate to you that the art of written correspondence isn't dead. You mentioned that the only mail you ever receive is either bills or postcards from your dentist, a service my own dentist doesn't even provide, perhaps I'll slip the idea into her suggestion box. Although putting thoughts into words is coming easier than expected, I'd be lying if I said this was the first letter I've attempted to write today. I believe that autocorrect has forever tarnished one's ability to spell correctly. That being said, I hope this letter brings you some joy today.

While I have you here, I might as well mention what a great time I had with you and Vanessa at Rockefeller Center, I'm glad we were finally able to grab that coffee after months of rescheduling, which was partly due to my chaotic work schedule, so my apologies for that.

I hope you enjoyed our outing as much as I did and that your ankle feels much better. I would recommend that in the future you refrain from attempting ice skating jumps simply because you took lessons when you were six years old, as graceful as you are, I'd hate to see you kill yourself or maim those around you. I'm a good lawyer, but even I'd prosecute you.

That last sentence was a joke, I'd try my hardest. I don't think you'd fare well in prison.

I know that you have final exams coming up shortly, so I wish you the best of luck. Seeing as you bought fifteen different colored highlighters, I think you'll do just fine.

I'll be back in New York in two months and if the rinks are still open, perhaps we can go again, and maybe this time Vanessa could join us. I hope she's putting my corporate museum pass to great use, the MoMA has some fantastic exhibits coming up that I know she'll love.

As per our agreement to keep things as casual as possible, I do not expect a response to this letter.

It was wonderful seeing you, Cassandra.

Yours Truly,
Blake Pearson

Hi everyone! Welcome to Permanent Ink! I'm so stoked for this story to get started!

Scattered among the chapters will be the letters Cassie and Blake wrote to each other. The story takes place in 2021 so all these letters were sent prior to Chapter 1.

The only letter we all really want to receive:
