Y/N sprints at the sight of Harry, jumping into his arms. He grips her tighter than ever with his chin on her shoulder, smelling the vanilla scent from her shampoo in her hair. Y/N pulls away and notices how much taller Harry had gotten, and how he began to style his hair differently. His emerald green eyes looked deep into her y/e/c eyes as he studied what had changed about her. Y/N had been growing but was still shorter than Harry. Although she grew in other places, Harry didn't look there. He looked at the new birth marks that became more visual over the break, and the small scab on the top of her head from her brother which made her all the more perfect to him. "Wait, since when did Y/N get so... different?" Harry thought to himself as he held onto Y/N not even realizing.

"Harry? Hello?" Y/N lightly slapped Harry's cheek to get him to wake up from his daze. He shakes his head and looks around, still at Kings Cross Station. "For a minute there I thought you went brain dead!" Y/N giggles as Harry begins to flush a light pink from embarrassment. The tension is quickly broken when Ron runs from behind and practically tackles Y/N. Before she even gets the chance to full stand up, Ron puts his hand in a fist and rubs on her head with it, just to annoy her. Y/N forcefully throws his arm off her and loudly shouts, "Oh I'll get you for that one Ronald Weasley!" And sets off chasing him down the platform.

Y/N was the only one in the friend group who didn't go to the leaky cauldron with the others before school since she was on family vacation in Italy and only arrived home two days before school started and needed to prepare from home. It saddened Y/N to know she missed out on hanging out with her best friends before school, but she knew she would be with them for the next 9 months while she would be away from her family.

The quartet boards the train and settles into a compartment with a sleeping man in it, since all the rest were full. Harry and Y/N sat on the side with "R.J. Lupin" practically sitting on each other while Hermione and Ron have a whole bench to themselves. Harry checks around to see if there's anyone outside the compartment and if the man was really asleep, before he shut the door tight.

"Let me get this straight. Sirius Black escaped from Azkaban to come after you?" Ron's face is filled with many puzzled looks.

"Yes." Harry looks scared, almost. Y/N reached out and held his arm for comfort, but he needed protection right now not comfort.

Hermione and Ron start bickering until lanterns start flickering and the train halts to a stop. Everyone in their compartment goes completely silent. Y/N glances over to see Hermione push Ron up against the window from crawling away from the door, and she moves her hand down to Harry's and squeezes it tight. Harry looks down and gives her a nod with a smile, trying to figure out what was going on. Harry stands up and doesn't let go of her hand, but uses the other to slide open the door and look around. He shuts the door and sits back down, holding her hand even tighter. He tries making excuses for what happened in confusion until the window begins to freeze over, and everything turns dark.

A dark, cloaked shadow approaches the compartment the quartet is seated in. It brushes open the door with a swift move of it's long fingers. Y/N gets shivers down her whole spine and begins to feel heavy sorrow she can't even express. Everyone in the compartment freezes as the figure approaches Harry. His eyes grow wide and then all of a sudden he begins to look overpowered and drowsy. Y/N can't do anything but watch this thing suck what looks like the life out of Harry.

Out of nowhere the quartet sees a bright light at the end of a wand, causing the dementor to scurry away from their compartment. Y/N quickly panics at the sight of Harry, passed out in her lap. She hadn't noticed that he had fallen onto her since she was frozen, too scared to dare and move with the creature lurking right in front of her. The man, R.J. Lupin, or Remus Lupin takes his seat looking around, explaining to the ones who are awake what the "dementor" had done. Hermione and Y/N take turns killing Lupin with their millions of crazy questions.

"Chocolate. Eat. It'll help." Lupin breaks off a piece of a triangle shaped chocolate bar and holds it out. Harry takes it, but doesn't eat it. "I need to have a word with the driver. Excuse me." Lupin nods his head at the chocolate in Harry's hand "Eat. It'll help." Once Lupin turns away, Harry turns to us "What happened to me?" Ron makes a concerned face, "Well you sort of went... rigid. We thought you were having a fit or something." Harry shakes his head in disbelief, "So none of you, you know... passed out?" Y/N shakes her head and gives Harry another reassuring arm squeeze. Harry almost gasps and begins to ramble on about a woman screaming as he passed out, but Y/N tunes out his questions and just stares.

She doesn't realize how stupid she looked until Harry grabbed both sides of her head "Hello??? Is anyone in that head of yours?" Jokingly turning and examining her whole head. "Oh shut up Harry." Y/N rolls her eyes but can't help but acknowledge the weird feeling in her stomach. She couldn't explain what it was but she knew she hadn't felt it before. She gave Harry one last long look before shaking her head, trying to push the butterflies out of her stomach and starting a new conversation with Hermione.

"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light." Dumbledore is once again giving his speech during the first dinner at Hogwarts each year. Only this year, Hogwarts would be home to dementors, gliding, wraithlike dark creatures who are considered to be some of the foulest to inhabit the wizarding world. Dementors will feed on human happiness and cause those to generate feelings of depression and despair to those they are near. Harry sits there with a blank expression with a somber Y/N sitting next to him, wishing she could help somehow.

"Harry, are you sure you're okay?" Y/N badgers for the thousandth time. They are together in the gryffindor common room. Hermione had already gone to bed and Ron was hanging out with Seamus and Dean.

Harry looks back up at Y/N with a sympathetic smile, "Yes. Yes. I'm sure I'm okay you can stop worrying Y/N!" Y/N stops her pacing with a shocked expression on her face. "Stop worrying?? Harry I'll never stop worrying. I've worried for you ever since that day I toppled over you in that broom store!" Harry chuckles at the memory.

Y/N turns and swiftly lands perfectly next to Harry on the couch. She places her hands on top of his, giving her that feeling of jitters in her stomach, "Honestly Harry, you're my best friend and I don't want to lose you." Harry's face turns a slight shade of red, but Y/N assumes it's the fireplaces reflection onto his skin. "Y/N nothing's going to happen to me. I think you need some sleep before you start saying some stuff you won't remember in the morning," Harry helps her back onto her feet. Y/N disagrees persistently but she can tell she was drowsy and just speaking her mind by now.

They walk up the spiral stone staircase together, embracing in a tight hug when they reach the top. After a minute Y/N turns away heading for the girls dormitories but is stopped instantly with the grasp of a strong hand on her own. She turns back to Harry, who seems to be struggling to get the right words out. He sighs and lets out a meak "Goodnight Y/N" as let's go of her hand. "Oh, goodnight Harry." Y/N feels disappointed, as if she expected Harry to do something.

She turns towards the door puzzled before quickly turning her back to the door, "Sleep well." Not knowing why she did that, she hears a soft voice answer back, "Sleep even better," Harry gives her a slight smirk before pushing open the boys dormitories door.

Y/N can't help but burst into a big smile, but is utterly confused. Why is she feeling all these emotions around Harry? Sure, in the past two years they have shared a couple moments that gave her the heebie jeebies, but she hasn't ever felt this strongly about someone. A wave of realization washes over her and the butterflies awaken in her stomach.

Y/N liked Harry Potter.
