I decided to finally open the box. I had realized my mistake. Inside was a chip and a prototype. For a doomsday weapon. I had known a few of Frank's friends were power hungry. I never knew he would become like them. As if to answer my questions, the device beeped. I closed the box before I could startle anyone. As I reached home, the beeping became more tense and annoying. I threw it so hard on my bed, it had opened. It spoke four relieving words: "Sorry, inaccessible. Frank's alive". It repeated this a few times before saying "hey girl" in Frank's voice. He was dead

FIVE DAYS LATER

I woke up drenched in sweat. A few days ago the box was opened. Mike, my friend and Frank's, had arrived. My home's bulter system sometimes lets a good friend after scans and if I am home. He won't tell but wants in. I let him. I put on my slippers and walked downstairs and looked at the prototype. I was 17. My parents gone. My mentor forced into a hologram. My best friend caught in this lie. And my life played out for me. I couldn't give it to the police or I would be considered a criminal who created it. Life had taken me down.

After a while, I stood there not knowing what to do. I called Mike and told him to come. He was here.

"What do we do with it?" he asked, "it looks like a teleporter." "No wa--", he was gone.Without thinking I hit it too. I was gone. Eradicated from the Earth. Instead at a place with changing, beautiful skies. My long blonde hair blows in the wind. I see Mike far away. I run. I don't care what will happen in the future. I knew I wouldn't like it. I chose to surprise myself.
