2 The New Year
"I'll see you on the train." Remus said blandly.

Fourth year finally. Home was the most boring place I had ever been. While walking up to the entrance to 9 ¾ I got a little nervous. I don't normally get nervous but getting to see all my friends again made my palms a little clammy.

"DRACO, BLASIE!" I called out, their heads both shot backwards in my direction.

"Hello gorgeous." Draco said with a smile on his face. Draco and I sometimes flirt but it never meant anything, it was mostly just a joke. I ran over to them engulfing them in a hug. They weren't much for hugs and I wasn't either but they were an exception. After letting them both go I turned around to get a good look at the train.

I pulled my trunk through the train and looked for a compartment to sit down in. as I walked down the aisle I could see people looking at me and pointing, but why. I hadn't done anything to make myself stand out. "Ouch, what the fuck!" I looked up to see the one and only Fred Weasley, my hand still on his chest from bumping into him.

"Your hand... is on my chest." He said in a snarky tone.

"Shut up Weasley!"

"Come on Lyra, you love me."

"Wipe that smirk off of your face, it wasn't on purpose, I mean who would want to touch that." I said coldly.

"Ouch that really hurt my feelings, how could someone be so... rude." he said with his hand on his heart, tired of his crap I just decided to push by him. Walking down the aisle people were still whispering and pointing. I decided to brush it off until I got in the compartment. Finally finding one I pushed the door open and shoved my trunk above me. After me Draco and Blaise walked in having their own conversation about god knows what. "Does anyone know why everyone is looking at me?" I asked abruptly.

"You didn't hear? Sirius Black has escaped Azkaban." Blasie replied. Hearing those words made my heart drop to my stomach. The man I once knew and loved was allegedly back.
I mean I knew he was innocent, I remember the day it happened... sorta. I remember him being taken and my screaming because they were being so violent with him. I remember the day they were murdered, Lily And James but I was with him the whole day, I was sick and puking but me being two years of age I had no way of proving that.

I was woken up from my day dream when the lights went out and it suddenly got cold. I popped up and stuck my head out of the compartment only to see a black figure... it was a dementor. It suddenly stopped and opened a compartment door, but whose and why. Suddenly a bright white light appeared and the dementor moved on. Making its way down the aisle it stopped at me and just stood there, suddenly all I could feel was pure sadness and the screams of Sirius as he was being taken away from me when I was little.

All the sudden I wake up to Remus standing over me. "Miss Black, eat this it will help." he quickly said like he was in a rush.

"Thank you professor."

"That professor guy said to tell you that they were just looking for Sirius Black and that you will be alright." Draco shakingly said with a concerned look on his face. I said nothing back and just continued to stare out the window.

Getting off the train was the same as getting on, all the staring and pointing. I wasn't in the mood to say anything to them so I just kept my head down. "Alright kids, best be gettin on the boats now," Hagrid said in his funny accent. Keeping my head down I quickly walked into one and sat down not even acknowledging Draco and Blaise.

Hogwarts finally. Hogwarts felt different this year, everyone was on edge about the whole Sirius Black issue. He didn't scare me, he would never hurt me. He loves me, right? Everyone's pointing and whispering is making me second guess all of the things I believe, I don't know why, I had proof that he was innocent but of course my word didn't mean anything.

Walking into the great hall was one of the most euphoric things one could feel. Watching the large wooden doors gave me warmth. Walking in I saw loads of people, my school mates. Watching the first years remind me of that warm feeling of pride I got walking down to the slytherin table my first year. "Lyra darling, do you remember the first time we met, I was asking who your parents were and you wouldn't tell me?" Draco asked leaning over the table while Romilda Vane was being sorted into her house.

"Yes Draco I remember clearly how you said we couldn't be friends if I was a muggleborn." I replied shortly.

"Come on Lyra, you still haven't told me."

"Yes, I recall, and I'm still not gonna tell you because you need to learn that whether someone is half-blood or pure blood , it means nothing, so until you can realise that I will not tell you!" I accidentally shouted a little too loud. All he did was scough.

After Mcgonagall was finished sorting all of the first years into their houses Dumbledore began his yearly speech. "Welcome! Welcome to another year at Hogwarts. Now, I'd like to say a few words, before we all become too befuddled by our excellent feast. First, I'm pleased to welcome Professor R.J. Lupin who's kindly consented to fill the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Good luck, professor." I clapped but not too loudly, didn't want to catch any attention.

"Psst Potter, is it true you fainted? I mean, you actually fainted?"

"Shove off, Malfoy." Harry replied.

"God Draco you can be such an arse," I said, slapping his shoulder. "The dementor did the same thing to me so just leave the poor boy alone!"

I turned back to Harry "I'm sorry Harry, he woke up on the wrong side of the bed." I said, giving him a weak smile.

"Our Care of Magical Creatures teacher has decided to retire in order to spend more time
with his remaining limbs. Fortunately, I'm delighted to announce that his place will be taken by none other than our own Rubeus Hagrid." I got up to clap again but quickly sat down so no one would wonder why I was clapping so hard for the nice man the Slytherins were not supposed to like.

"Finally, on a more disquieting note at the request of the Ministry of Magic Hogwarts will, until further notice, play host to the dementors of Azkaban until such a time as Sirius Black is captured. The dementors will be stationed at every entrance to the grounds. Now whilst I've been assured that their presence will not disrupt our day-to-day activities a word of caution.

Dementors are vicious creatures. They'll not distinguish between the one they hunt and the one who gets in their way. Therefore, I must warn each and every one of you to give them no reason
to harm you. It is not in the nature of a dementor to be forgiving. But you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light." His words made my whole body tense. It made me mad that they were looking for him; he had done nothing wrong.
