His eyes kept glancing at your chest area, you were hoping he was only looking at your cross necklace. When you cleared your throat, the student looked right back at you with mild guilt written all over his expression.

"I'm surprised you decided to join our club, Peter Graham." There was a light laugh from you. "Honestly, you don't strike me as the type to engage in bible study."

The teen paled, "It's too depressing at my house, I'd rather stay a few extra hours at school. Plus, all the other clubs were full..."

"Well, you're welcome anytime." You extended your hand towards him and he looked down solemnly. "Come we're about to start, we will be discussing the Psalms readings."

There was a mildly awkward silence as he hesitated in taking your hand. You saw him gulp slightly as his fingers awkwardly touched your palm. Waiting patiently with a smile on your face was enough to calm down Peter slightly.

Giggling at his shy behaviour, you wasted no time to escort him to one of the classrooms. While walking down the hallway, some people watched in amusement to see Peter and you at arm's length. You were known to be the Christian girl of the school, honestly, you didn't mind being called that. They were just shocked to see such a sight; the two of you were almost polar opposites.

Opening the door, multiple heads turned your direction and stared blankly. The sole person standing out of the small group of students was your co-leader; David Myers. He crossed his arms when his gaze landed on Peter behind you, the male shrunk a little bit.

"[Y/N], you're late." David groaned under his breath.

You disregarded whatever he said. Even though he was pretty strict about the club, you knew he had a soft spot for you. Anyway, you brought Peter into the classroom and shut the door behind him.

"On behalf of your leaders; David and I..." You built up the suspense and made your way towards the waiting students. "Would like to introduce..."

Then, you tugged the male into the circle with a wide smile spreading across your face.

"Our new member, Peter Graham!" You announced happily while the members stirred anxiously. You turned to the teen, "As you can see, we are very excited to have you."

"Hey..." Peter greeted timidly, raising a hand to wave.

There was more awkward silence, the surrounding students looked at one another with confused looks. Well, this was something you've never seen before. Usually, they were very thrilled to have a new person.

"Everyone, say hi," David muttered sternly.

"Hi, Peter." The group members perked up and greeted him.

You were laughing joyfully at the interaction, almost clapping like a seal in excitement. Nothing pleased you more than to see your bible study group growing more and more. It was very touching to see that someone like Peter took the initiative to get his life together.

While you and David went to the bookshelves to get the bibles, people continued to stare at the new member as he sat down at an empty chair. For some reason, Peter had a terrible feeling in his gut.
