Narrator.

"She's here," was all Snape whispered to the headmaster before he returned to the teacher's table. A while passed before all first-years were sorted. After it was done, the headmaster turned to the students and cleared his throat. They all turned to face him, and silence fell.

«Today, we'll be welcoming another student in the sixth year,» the headmaster stated. «I hope you will welcome this young witch with open arms and judge her for who SHE is.»

At the sound of this pep talk, students turned to each other, a bit baffled. There were some whispers that were merely increased by the Headmaster's next words. «Please welcome,» he said, «Y/n Riddle».

The doors of the Great Hall opened slowly. Whispers, dreadful and surprised looks were thrown her way. Seeing her already in her cloak with the little green snake pin, the Slytherins turned louder. Nonetheless, she moved toward the sorting hat and as her robe opened from the movement and more of her figure was visible, the comments increased but mostly from the boys...

Ron. Bloody hell...

Draco: She will be a Slytherin for sure.

Harry: Definitely a Slytherin

Cedric: No way

Y/n POV

I enjoyed it. The walk, the looks, the faces they made. I paced slowly, and turned my head only for my thoughts to be confirmed; everyone was staring at me. I was wearing a black top, a short purple skirt and high boots since I'd be forced to wear the Hogwarts uniform from now on. Above all, I wore the locket of Slytherin, which father had given me. As I almost reached the headmaster, he merely nodded me to indeed go to the sorting hat. When the hat's ribbon touched my shoulder, it said out loud: «SLYTHERIN !»

It was expected, of course, but the relief wasn't any less when my house's name, echoed. I could feel a wide, wicked grin appearing on my face as I instantly turned towards my  house's table, where the other Slytherins were cheering for their newest addition. I was up before that Professor with the pointy hat had time to take the sorting hat off of my head, and strode towards them. Many of them made space for me to sit beside them. I scanned them all when deciding to sit opposite a boy who hadn't got up but was already smiling at me deviously. He didn't introduce himself, but I was sure we'd soon enough get introduced and have the opportunity to catch up.

The headmaster tried to take the attention off of me as he started his speech, which I didn't hear since I were too distracted by all the fellow Slytherins who introduced themselves. However, despite having sat with my back to the rest of the students, I didn't miss the constant too loud whispers nor the fact that I was being watched. I didn't mind the attention, of course. That's what all this was about, after all. Making an impression, pose a threat and make a statement. That the Dark Lord had an heir that was going to attend by the side of all his rivals, as well as becoming powerful in the process.

I'd already been taught the basics and much more at home by father himself, but also the tutors he'd brought. Academically, this was a waste of time. But, strategically, it was about making myself known as well as my reputation. This was not about me. It was about him, but leaving the manor didn't bother me one bit.

In fact, being among teenagers in a real school was something new to me and an experience I wanted. I'd make friends and rivals –lots of rivals. And Slytherin would be the perfect fit for me. That was exactly why I'd purchased the robe with the seal embroidered already. Because I knew it deep in my bones that I belonged here.
