YES IT FUCKING DOES.

Ever hear of the Memory Archives in the Special section of the main menu? They tell you about the trios and story. (Not so much BBS, though.)

And they tell you things during the game. They don't tell you everything, and they might not do it well enough, BUT THEY STILL DO IT.

To get the best understanding though, you would have to play ALL OF THE GAMES, including Coded and Union X/Back Cover. (I did watch Back Cover and Coded before playing, so I was good.)
