(I just typed all this up for my friend on Messanger who wanted to know where to start so...have this.

I think I got like 99% of this right but if something's wrong lmk.)

There's arguments about when you should play what (I was stupid when I first played 2 and didn't do COM beforehand-) but basically here's what I think.

You can either play in release order or chronological order (yeah don't do chronological you'll be confused-)

358/2 Days
Birth By Sleep
Coded (?)
Dream Drop Distance
...All of the mobile game stuff people should actually care about, as that's important for 4.

Other stuff to note:

*Chronological order isn't recommended and it's not a good place to start, but if you want to play BBS before 1 I suppose you could. You'd get some background knowledge for 1 but you should start with release order first.

*Nomura actually sucks at making ANY game an actual SIDE GAME. Therefore EVERY GAME IS IMPORTANT AND SHOULD NOT BE SKIPPED BEFORE 3, especially before 4 because "oh crap mobile games are actually important in this series." Yeah I figured that out too late.

*I know Nomura said you don't have to play everything before 3, and you can just go 1, then 2, then 3, but um...yeah. You'll be confused at the last act of the game if you do that. Actually you'll be confused throughout the game but anyway-

*Speaking of mobile games, you'll probably have to watch the cutscenes on YouTube for a couple of them because they were shut down.

*If you don't want to do COM's card game bs or don't have a GBA or DS, you can watch the cutscenes on YouTube.

*If you don't wanna play a rhythm game, watch Melody of Memories cutscenes on YouTube.

*Same with 0.2 Birth By Sleep. I literally just remembered this existed now I gotta edit this rip-

*Chain of Memories and 358 take place at around the same time, so theoretically it doesn't matter which one you do first.

*I say theoretically because it kinda does...depending on how you wanna view the story.

*0.2 SHOULD be done after DDD and not KH1 or BBS. Why? Because it technically takes place after that with flashbacks taking place right before KH1 ends, therefore taking place after BBS.

*Speaking of BBS, the proper order is Terra, Ventus, Aqua, but you can play whoever as long as you don't mind getting spoiled for another character's story as they're all connected.
