Chapter 5 - Smoke

[Tay's POV]

"So... How was it?" Jordan asked, though he clearly saw that it went well.

"It was awful, Eckes."

"Oh, fuck you. I bet it was magical." 

I revealed to him a goofy grin. "It was, it was. It was perfect. She's perfect. Oh god." I started to do this stupid dance that I did when I was happy.

He chuckled. "Well, that's good to hear!" He stopped smiling. "So... now, what about Jess?"

I stopped, too. "Jor, what about Jess?"

"I don't know. Like... what's going to happen?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean... are you going to date Jenna?"

I didn't know how to answer that question. Was I? It's not like Jess and I were a thing. It's not like we were ever a thing. Maybe it was time for me to chase after someone who was chasing me back.

"You know what? Yes. I think I am going to date Jenna."

Jordan almost slammed on the brakes. "Really?"

"Yeah. Why not?"

He smiled. "That's my girl. Fuck yeah! You get that Aussie!"

"I will!" We high-fived. "It's nice to feel this, you know? Someone is actually chasing after me. It feels nice."

It didn't take long to get home. I thanked Jordan and told him to text me once he got to his own house. I sent Jenna a text.

Me: Come here and kiss me again.

Jenna: You know... I could if you really wanted me to.

... That was true. I didn't want to have all of the fun in one day though.

Me: Tempting as that may be... maybe another time. I'm not as easy as you think I am. ;)

Jenna: Oh god no, that isn't what I meant! I'm sorry.

Me: Hahaha it's okay. I'm just messing with you.

Jenna: Ass.

Then, I got a text from Jess.

Jess: Hey.

Me: Hi.

Jess: How are you?

Me: Wonderful ~ How are you?

She didn't respond. Go figure.

This week was insane. I tried to convince Jenna to start spending lunch with my friends and me, but she was hesitant at the thought of meeting Jess. I didn't think anything bad would happen. Man, was I wrong.

It was Wednesday. Jenna waited on me to come out of the line at the cafeteria- she always brought her lunch -and she followed me to the courtyard. Today, our big group consisted of: Jordan, Mike, Rob, Jess, Stephen, Brian, Lynn, and Alexa. 

"Hey guys," I said, trying to get everyone's attention. "I'd like you all to meet Jenna." There were hey's and hi's all around. "You know Jordan, and you know Lynn and Alexa. But that is Mike, Rob, Stephen, Brian -" and I stopped at the beautiful tanned girl with brown hair. "And this is Jess." The tension was so thick that you could cut it with a knife. Everyone froze, waiting for a reaction out of either of the two girls.
