3rd Person, with Eiji

It was 4pm on a Saturday as Eiji sat down at his desk, taking out a piece of paper to write another letter. Eiji has been doing this everyday since he left New York, which was over a year ago. He has written hundreds of letters to Ash everyday, knowing well that he can't respond since he's laying low, trying not to attract any attention after "dying" at the mental hospital.

Dear Ash,

It's been 400 days since I've seen you last, I really wish I could go back to you, but Ibe-chan doesn't want me to go back. I hope that you are able to write back soon, if it feels like I'm talking to no one sometimes. I've been thinking recently, maybe you should come to Izumo. I know last time Sing told me you weren't able to make it to the airport in time, but I can buy a ticket for you. It'd be way easier for you to stay hidden here, and you can probably easily learn Japanese way better than me learning english. Speaking of, I've been practicing learning english so I can return to New York.

Eiji pauses writing to think about all things that happening during the adventure they went on, he slowly shakes his head with a smile

I miss you more than you comprehend, and I continue to think about all we went through. Sometimes, I dream that we are together napping in the old apartment, cooking, joking about our past and watching movies. Hope these letters have been finding you in good health.

Love, Eiji

Eiji folds the letter into fourths and puts it in a yellow envelope, with Ash's name written neatly on the back. Eiji opens the door to his car and sits at the wheel on his way to Ibe-chan's house. He gives the letters to Ibe-chan to deliver to Max in America, who knows where Ash is and can deliver to him. Eiji laughs at the thought of Max delivering 400 letters to Ash.                                                                          After Eiji gets to Ibe-chan's, he unlocks the door with the spare key, to be met with Ibe-chan sitting at the kitchen tables drinking a coffee and reading the newspaper.                                                 "Good morning Ibe-chan! Can you believe this is letter 400? Don't you think it would be funny seeing Max deliver 400-" Eiji stops to observe the sad smile on Ibe-chan's face, "what is it?" Eiji asks, nervously laughing.                                                                                                                                                    "Eiji, there is something you deserve to know, sit," Ibe-chan pats the chair next to him, while Eiji makes the slow journey to the chair from the front door, nervously playing with his hands once his sits in the chair.

why do i feel like something bad is about to happen
