A Lonely Howl

Zim was scavenging for food like he did all his meals. Being an outcast of your pack was bad enough but no food was worse. His ribs showed through a beautiful midnight black coat. He was just heading back to the central cave when he heard Alpha's howl. He knew Alpha's howl by heart. Though Alpha was the one who outcasted Zim, he was still kind to him letting him sleep inside the caves and not in the cold. Dropping the bunny he had eaten to the bone and more he bolted over to see Mitus, Alpha's brother trotting away. Mitus was always trouble. He caused fights and riots, broke rules and went wherever he wanted. What had happened? Curious, Zim waited until Mitus's stark white coat was out of his sharp view. Bounding over, Zim halted. He had almost had fallen in a crevice, one large but too deep to see the bottom. A shrill whimper erupted from the depths of the crevice. Zim howled a lonesome howl, piecing together what had happened.

With his head low, Mitus entered the main cave. Of course, it was all an act. He was mischievously happy that Alpha was gone. He was next in line and he'd be the ruler of the pack. He howled to catch all the wolves attention. It was a group of about 15 wolves, 2 on the way from a mother named Glim. That was Mitus's omega. His and his only, if another wolf even got near they'd better watch their tail. His howl caught everyone's attention. 30 pairs of large, beautiful and predatory eyes looked up from whatever they had been doing. He smirked. He had their attention.
