Kaira
KAIRA.
KY RAH.
STOP SPELLING IT WRONG, STARBUCKS.
STOP SAYING IT WRONG, NEW PEOPLE.
What is a name if no one can say it right?
What is a name if no one can spell it right?
Juliette got it all wrong.
My name isn't Kira, so don't call me that.
A rose is just a rose. You know what it is by it's name.
Now if someone said dirt, you wouldn't think; "Oh! They must be talking about the red flower that most everyone knows the name of!"
No, when someone says rose, you think of the flower, and when someone says dirt, you think of the brown shit children love to track all around the nice clean floor their mother just cleaned..."KARA!"
Speaking of which....
"The guys were chasing me!" I cried out as my step brothers ran after me throughout the house.
"Haha! Kira is in trouble!" Collin laughed at me as I pouted and stomped my foot into the floor before mother snagged me by the back of my shirt and threw me into his office.
When mother doesn't want to punish me, she throws me in here for him to take care of it.
"Kira." His deep voice booms as my body starts to shake from the fear of what's to come.
Run. A small voice in my mind whispers out to me.
No, if I do, it'll be worse. I thought back.
It's not the switch this time. It warned as something shiney caught my eye and my breath left my lips.
I've seen Bambi enough times to know what that means.
I could almost hear the crows sounding the alert just before I made a decision and bolted.
Fear ripped through my body as the kick from the rifle shook me to my core and shock took over.
I could barely see where I was going but no one stood in my way as I lept through the doggie door and rolled down the concrete stairs and into the woods.Crack!
I involuntarily jumped at the sound as tears streamed down my cheeks, and I fell to the cold hard ground. New Hampshire's mid December woods were still covered in the snow from the storm we had just yesterday, and every crunch of snow beneath my bare feet sounded like 15,000 atomic bombs dropping, as I started to run again.
My feet were frozen, my body couldn't decide if it was hot or cold, and my exhausted 19 year old body couldn't take the running on top of no sleep for 3 days, so once my foot slipped, I came crashing down into the snow, so close to sleep, I gave it a ghost of a kiss.
"Not yet, kitten." A warm voice soothed.
"Help me..." I whimpered as I glanced up towards the golden figure.
"Your life isn't over yet, just a few more steps, and then you can rest." His voice warmed me up enough that I crawled towards the space between the two of the tallest pines. "We'll need you soon, darling." He placed a whisper of a kiss on my forehead before a bright light surrounded me and I gave up."Between every two pines is a doorway to a new world."
