Kaira
"We're about 40 minutes from home base, sir." The pilot said as I sat down next to Steve, and Colson walked over to us talking to Steve about how he watched us sleep. My eyes widened as he pulled me in closer to his side until the plane landed. Steve placed me on his shoulders as he walked out and a pretty red haired lady walked towards us. Natasha Romanov aka Black Widow.
"Agent Romanov, Captain Rodgers." Colson said.
"Ma'am." Steve said before her eyes caught mine. "Oh, this is Kaira... she's-" He paused.
"I'm his kid." I smiled at her before they started talking and soon Banner was introduced.
"Oh my gosh! You're Bruce Banner!" I shrieked.
"Kaira." Steve warned.
"Dude! I've read all your papers on Gamma Radiation exposure!" I bubbled.
"Huh?" Steve and Banner both asked as I geeked out and he smiled.
"Nice to meet you, Miss Rodgers." Banner shook my hand.
"It's Raine, actually... but you can call me Kaira!" I grinned, bouncing on the balls of my feet.
"Let's get inside." Nat said before Steve tossed me up onto his shoulders.
"Gentlemen." Fury started. "Miss Kaira." He nodded to me before continuing.***
"Loki of Asgard. From Norse mythology, the God of mischief and tricks. Younger, adopted brother of Thor and Hela, actually born a frost giant." I said as they all looked at me. "What? Loki has always been my favorite. Youngest of three, always in some sort of trouble, older brother was the parents golden child. When I was older, I related to him a lot more then I probably should have." I shrugged as I studied the God.
"Hold up, when you were older?" Banner asked.
"Hey, I'm Kaira Raine, I'm from a different universe. The one without supers." I smiled and waved at the confused adults.
"So, you're saying there's a multiverse?" Banner grinned.
"Yeah, but I can't really explain it." I shrugged before lightning struck and thunder sounded, making me yelp.
"It's ok, kitten." Steve walked over to me, trying to comfort me.
Thor landed on the plane and Tony was about to attack, but Thor came in, grabbed Loki and left before both Tony and Steve left to try to retrieve him.
"I guess I'll just wait here then." I called as Nat closed the back door and laughed lightly at my comment.
"You can stay with me, kid." She smiled back at me before placing her focus back on the controls.***
"Hey princess, - where did you get the poptarts?" Steve asked as I munched on the sweet Strawberry one.
"Stark gave it to me, he only likes the blueberry one, but got the package with both." I shrugged.
"How are you feeling?" He asked glancing down at the stuff that's on my face.
"He didn't drug it. I've already had two... you want the other half?" I pushed it towards him and he took a bite.
"Aww. How sweet." Tony walked over. "Daddy and daughter."
"I'm just taking care of her." Steve said as my heart dropped.
"My dad was killed on my 8th birthday." I sighed. "I hate that I can't control my mouth anymore." I walked away towards Nat. "I'm tired." I yawned.
"Come on then, kitten." She took my hand and I used my powers to fly up so she would hold me.
"Hold on, baby Cap has powers?" Tony asked before Nat took me over to a little room with a bed in the corner.
"Are you comfy?" She asked as she tucked me in.
"Mmhm." I snuggled into the blankets. She brushed my hair back before placing a light kiss on my forehead and leaving.
I fell asleep quickly, but for some reason I woke up to my room being pitch black, and I started to scream. Not just some short scream, no, I was screaming at the top of my lungs, bloody murder until someone opened the door, and I lept from the bed and started to sob into their shirt.
"Is she ok?" Steve's voice cut through my jarring sobs.
"It was so dark!" I cried out, gripping onto whoever opened that door for dear life.
"Shh, it's ok, you're safe now." Banner's voice soothed as he smoothed my hair and picked me up, gently rocking me until my harsh sobs turned into quiet tears. "The dark is pretty scary, huh?" He whispered softly as my grip started to loosen.
"Yeah." I sniffled before pulling back and looking into his eyes.
"I've never met anyone with a fear like that." Tony said.
"She told me once, why she's so afraid of the dark, she said that for a punishment, when she was little, her parents would lock her in a dark closet, and her step brothers would sometimes fill it with snakes or spiders and once even bees. It traumatized her so bad. I mean, I couldn't even imagine going through that when I was 2 years old." Steve sighed.
"She was 2! What could she have possibly done?" Nat growled.
"She colored on the walls for the first time." He said. "She told me it only got worse, and much more physical as time went on."
"Poor kid." Tony frowned.
"People shouldn't have kids if they treat them like that." Banner whispered.
"They apparently only did it to her. They didn't want a daughter." Steve added before I glanced up at him. "Hey kitten, want to stay with me tonight?"
Nodding, I answered with a long yawn. Banner passed me over to him and he took me into his room, letting me cuddle with him for the rest of the night.
