"- You are going to have to spy on the Squooshes to find out what they are planning and why they attacked. You can use your smarts and sneakiness to get into the kingdom."

Bob was confused. They were asking him?? Of all people! But he couldn't be a spy! He might be good at being sneaky but that doesn't mean he liked it! He was freaking out but he tried to remain calm.

"Oh wow!" His mother said "You could be the hero of the kingdom!"

"Haha. Yes. It is a great honor to get a quest like this." The queen started. "But it won't be easy. We will provide you with food, water and a weapon just in case."

His father stood there processing. Bob and him exchanged looks.

"Um- uh- when does he start?" His father asked nervously.

"As soon as possible. Tomorrow afternoon at the latest." She said.

"What kind of weapon?" Bob asked feeling stupid.

"We have an assortment of weapons. Bows, swords, daggers and even spell books!"

"Spell books?" Bob asked.

"Yes. They take a bit of time to master but they are useful and powerful."

Bob really wanted a spell book. He may not have known how to use them but he didn't care it sounded cool and he could never picture himself with a sword or a dagger. "Uh how am I supposed to do this?" Bob said going back to talking about the quest.

"Come with me, Bob. Your parents can stay here while I brief you on the mission. "The queen said "That is, if you accept."

Everyone looked at him. He hated being in the spotlight. "I- I accept." He said his voice quavering.

His parents looked at him and smiled.

"Great! I will have my cooks make your parents some tea while we talk. Come with me." The queen said while walking into a large hallway.

Bob followed. They squished through a wall and appeared in a big room with a table in the middle and maps on the walls. The table had wooden chairs. The room was dark even though it was only noon. They were books stacked everywhere and boxes scattered around the room. The queen gestured for him to sit.

She pulled out a map from one of the boxes and Bob immediately recognized it.

"That's a map of Blobtopia!" he said and then pointed to the squished kingdom. "and thats our kingdom!" then he pointed to the squoosh's kingdom "And that's that squoosh kingdom!"

"My, my, you are smart." The queen said smiling. "I'm guessing that means you know about the great river and the dark forest and the light forest and the mountains of doom?"

"Yes." He said nodding.

"Good. So here is where you are going to go. First you are going to travel through the dark forest then you want to cross the great river."

"Okay. But wouldn't be easier to go through the light forest?"

"Yes, but they will have guards around those area's at all times because 75 years ago during the great war that's where we traveled to get their kingdom." She pointed to places on the map while she talked. "Come on, we are going to get your weapon." She squished through a wall and Bob followed.

They appeared in a room with swords on the walls and targets for practicing archery. In the corner glowing books scattered the ground.

"Sword? Bow? Dagger?" The queen asked.

"Uh... I am no good with any of those." Bob said looking at the corner of the room with the books.

"Ah, I see you are interested in the spell books?"

"Yes ma'am."

"alright then. I will go get Joe, he trains people how to use them. Stay here." She squished through a wall.

Bob stood there looking at all the weapons then walked over to the glowing books. He picked one up. It was coated in dust. It wiped the dust off. The cover of it had a purple blob.

"Hello!" said a new voice.

Bob dropped the book and turned around. The queen and a squish he had never seen before were standing right behind him.

"Bob, this is Joe." The queen said

"I can teach you the basics of a spell book but then you are on your own."

"O-okay sir." Bob said awkwardly.

Joe bent down and picked up the book bob was looking at. He handed it to Bob. "Hm.. Open to the first page."

Bob opened to the first page it had lots of writing and even some drawings.

"Each page has a spell. The beginning of the book has the easier spells and it gets hard and harder after that.  Try to do the first one. All that it does is make food appear in front of you."

"Uh- Okay..." Bob said nervously. "Abracadabra!"

Just as they expected food appeared right in front of him. Carrots, cabbages and watermelons popped out of thin air.

"Good!" Joe said. "See you understand the basics. Its all in how you pronounce the spell."

"So.. Can I use it?"

"Yes!" He said. "Keep it!"

The queen smiled. "You should head home, Bob. Come, I will take you to your parents."
