You ended up staying at the farm much longer than expected. The fact that you even managed to stay the night was a miracle. But one thing led to another, and you were allowed to stay for much longer than you had initially intended.
When you had first met Maggie's father, he seemed extremely wary of you. Even after Maggie had properly introduced you, he kept a stern glare. But after a while, He spoke up, and told you that his name was Hershel Greene. He had then proceeded to tell you what Maggie explained to him. How you got the roamer before it bit her, and how you were on your own. Though, you noticed that he referred to the roamers as 'sick people'. You thought nothing of it, as everyone has their own names for the beings. Heck, you even heard that some people called them geeks.
Hershel then explained that he would allow you to stay the night, so long as you went on your way once it was morning. You agreed to this, and thanked him for his hospitality. You weren't offended by his quick decision to force you out after the single night. You understood that he just wanted to protect his family, and survive through this hell of a time.
During that night, you were allowed to stay in a guest bedroom on the first floor of the house. While getting ready to go to bed, a knock was heard at your door, and Maggie came in. She asked if you could help her with dinner, to which you asked if Hershel would be fine with you helping out. Maggie said that he would have no problem, so you accepted her request to help with dinner.
While helping out, you and Maggie got closer. You both spoke about your family, and you opened up about finding your brother. Maggie sympathized with you, saying that she lost a lot of close family during these times. Soon after, dinner was ready. Hershel seemed to have no big issue with you being at the table, and once again, you thanked him for allowing you to stay.
During dinner, you met the rest of the people staying at the farm. There was Beth, Maggie's half-sister, Jimmy, Beth's boyfriend, Patricia, Hershel's assistant, and finally Otis, Patricia's husband.
Being surrounded by this family gave you such warmth. Though they had lost so much, from what Maggie has told you, they still hold so much hope. It was such a pure thought, and it ignited so much hope within you. You had also gotten along with them well, making silly jokes every now and then to ease your own tension, and to feel a part of a group. Your personal favourite being when you told them that you were more of a strings kid than a band kid.
Once the dinner was over, you walked over to your room, only to be stopped by Beth. She had asked you if everything was fine. This question confused you at first, so you asked her what she meant. She then motioned to your leg, and stated that it seemed bruised and beat. After pulling up your pants a little, and looking at your leg, you could see a huge bruise was present. You looked at the young girl, and smiled. You then went on to explain that you jumped out of a car that was moving at more than 100mph. This shocked her, and she told you to go and get checked by her father.
After being forced to face Hershel about the injury, his stern glare that he always had pointed in your direction seemed to falter, and was replaced by a mixture of both shock and concern. After explaining to him that you jumped out of a fast moving car, hit your head, and got amnesia, he immediately asked to inspect you. Only now did you find out he was a doctor of sorts.
After he had a look at your leg, head, and asked you a few questions, he came to the conclusion that you had suffered mild head trauma, and had a bruised bone. With that being said, You told him that you still didn't want to be a bother, and were still going to leave the next morning.
It became evident that Hershel was fighting a personal battle of whether he should let you stay, or let you be on your way. In the end, he told you to stay for a week, just so that the head trauma would go away, and your bruised leg would become a bit more bearable to deal with. He also gave you one condition, that you stayed away from the barn.
