His Sunshine

I'm sorry it took so long to update I just have been a bit busy with family things. Anyway here's the next chapter. Enjoy and please don't forget to comment what you think. I'm a perfectionist lol and like everything I do is wrong so it would really help a lot 🥰.

(Y/N) wondered around the castle that night finding herself rather lost. She had just awoken in a rather peculiar part of the castle in the middle of the night. Her cat Arna protectively by her side. The cat walked around her legs nearly getting trampled several times but this didn't stop her.

She heard a sound from the end of the hall and knowing she would be punished if caught she tried to hide but to no avail. The footsteps got closed and louder she huffed and stood waiting for whoever it was.

"And what may I ask are you doing up at this hour Miss-"

"Sunshine. (y/n) Sunshine sir." She answered timidly.

"Ah, yes. Well?"

"Oh sorry. I was sleepwalking and I don't remember how to get back to my dorm sir." She looked down playing with her fingers. She wasn't usually this shy but this man was quite intimidating.

"This part of the castle is off-limits Miss Sunshine. Count this as your first and last warning, noctambulism or not points shall be deducted. Now back to your dorm please." She hurriedly turned and began to walk away.

"Hufflepuff is in the opposite direction." Snape crowed (Y/N) cringed a bit at the bite in his words and swiftly turned to make her exit in the other direction.

The next morning at breakfast (Y/N) sat with Neville at the Gryffindor table. Plenty of people were giving her odd looks but she didn't seem to mind at all. Neville at the moment was her only friend. Though those in her house were nice enough she didn't quite feel comfortable with them.

"Hello (y/n) how did you sleep?" Neville smiled as she sat down.

"I was so restless I sleepwalked out of my common room and got caught by Snape."

"I heard Professor Snape is scary."

"He is was so scary. I thought I was gonna get in big trouble!"

"Lucky you didn't, not a good look getting points taken on the first night." a girl chimed in, She had frizzy wavy hair and big front teeth. "By the way, I'm Hermoine Granger, your Y/N Sunshine, correct?"

"Yeah I am, good to meet you." y/n smiled

(Y/N) and Hermoine got along quite well. Their interests were very different but it didn't really matter to them as they giggled away together.

Though (Y/N) was terribly intelligent she was as clumsy as could be. She found herself always bumping into people and dropping things. This was especially true in Potions. She and a girl from her house, Susan Bones, were partners. Though she was scared of him she always volunteered to answer Snape's questions and she always got the right answer which seemed to get her on the wrong side of many of her classmates especially a group of Ravenclaw know-it-alls in the front.

While walking back to her station with her arms full of ingredients Y/N tripped over herself. The vials in her hands went up in the air and landed all over her and her partner. Susan screamed as she was now covering in honey water and slugs. The entire class erupted in laughter.

"Y/N! Watch where you're going!" Susan squealed.

"What a ditz!" A Ravenclaw boy, Jeric, at the front called out.

"You really should be more careful, next time you might not be so fortunate." the girl next to him, Amila, chided. Y/N wouldn't have thought much of her comment but it was something about her tone that really got to her. It was so sharp and condescending.

Y/N was not used to this. She was never near other kids her age. She had tutors and her animals, no one ever judged her. Being around people was very new to her. But she didn't want to let on that what they said had gotten to her.

Quietly Y/N cleaned up her mess and she and Susan finished their potion and received an A despite all Jeric and Amila's best efforts which annoyed them to no end.

Y/N walked down the hall on her way back to the common room after baking some sweet buns with the kitchen elves. She carried about half a dozen in her arms ready to drown her sorrows in gluten when she saw Draco. It looked like he was headed for the kitchen. She smiled and greeted him.

"Hello Mr Malfoy how are you today?" She joked with him.

He pulled a face before grunting back a hello.

"So how are your classes going so far?" Y/N sat on a bench close to a large window unwrapping the cloth and offering him a bun which he took. She placed the cloth on the bench and took a bun herself.

"They're alright," he sat on a bench a foot away from her putting up a leg and taking a bite. "I don't think they'll be too difficult. It's those Griffindors... ugh... absolutely dreadful."

"I'm sure it's not too bad." Picking apart her bun. Wondering if she should share her day with him. "I thought Professor Snape would hate me but I got an A in potions today so that was good. Oh and I learned about..."

She rambled on and on about school skipping the parts of her newly found enemies. Draco sat there quite amused. What a strange girl she was. But he didn't seem to mind. In fact he after he got over the initial shook of her personality he wasn't able the dislike her like he had wanted.

When Y/N arrived back in her dorm she took out a piece of parchment and began writing to her father.

Dear Papa,
I'm having a wonderful time at school. Meeting new people is so much fun. I can't wait for you to meet my friends. I miss you very much but don't worry I'll be okay. Tell aunty Fela I miss her too.

Draco and Y/N became friends after that first night they fell into a sort of routine. Every morning he would walk with her the to her first class and would meet up right before lunch, at dinner much to his dismay Y/N would sit with Hermoine and Neville and half an hour before curfew he would watch her make sweets with the elves and they would eat them together.
