Marrying Lucas Hernandez

Lucas~

"Can you believe it ? That girl rejected me!! ME!! I'm Lucas freaking Hernandez!!!" I screamed.

"Lucas, my friend, I don't know if you have any idea, but there are girls out there who don't give two shits about you being Lucas freaking Hernandez." My childhood bestfriend, Trey said over the phone.

I'm on my flight. Back from the humiliation that girl caused me. On one hand it's his grandfather and my grandpa's friendship and their silly dream to get me arranged to that  rowdy Spanish model, and on the other hand is that rowdy, arrogant, beautiful girl herself. Jeeeeez! What a mess.

"I can't believe I'm getting married, arranged that too." I said.

"Yes, it's surprising for me too Luca. But your grandfather did tell me about the girl, he seems to be enchanted by her."

"I have no clue why."

I really don't have any clue why grandpa is so mesmerized by her. I mean yes she's pretty, yes she's got an amazing body.. but I've seen hundreds of such models.. they're here one day, they're gone the other day.. and this girl isn't even famous in the US.. she's just a Spanish model for all I know.

"I looked the girl up, she's pretty Lucas. I can see you both producing some gorgeous kids together."

Is he out of his mind ? Am I talking to Trey ? Or is it some grandma spirit that's taken over him ? Kids ? Gorgeous kids ? I can't even stand her.

"Good bye Trey. I'll see you when I'm back home." I cut the call and honestly, why is everyone sooo into her ? Probably because they haven't seen how rude she was with me..but I'm no quitter either. She told me she won't marry me huh ? I told her I'll marry her and make her fall head over heels for me like any other girl.

Let the games begin, Jessian Riveras.

We got engaged in the presence of family. And as always she looked soo beautiful. Sometimes I look at her and I forget that she was soooo rude to me when we first met. She was smiling during the engagement, but I could see she wasn't elated about it. She really does not want to tied down.

A few days later we went out for the wedding dress shopping a few days later, and oh boy! She tried her best to make me annoyed by all the weird dress choices, I see what she's trying to do. She's trying to scare me away and call tye wedding off. But I'm soooo not giving in. Let her do whatever she wants to do. I'll agree to all her bizarre choices.

I saw her changed dress after dress and in the middle of all that I noticed why everyone may be sooo in love with her, she sure is one gorgeous girl. The kind I've never seen before. She picked out the most glamorous, sparkly, non bridal dress for the wedding. While I loved the dress, and she looked absolutely ravishing in it.. I knew she picked out this one just because she knows our families might object. And she knows I'll probably be angry too.. but guess what, I'll play along with her.

I decided that and I let her buy that dress.

The next day, I was on my way for the match training when my phone rang,

"You guys go on, I'll be with you in a moment." I said to my teammates as they left the changing room.

"Morning grandpa." I said as I picked up my grandpa's phone.

"I can't believe you let her buy that dress Lucas."

"So the word's reached you huh?" I could not help but smile, I knew I'd have to beg them to let her wear that dress.

"You like the girl?"

"What ? No!!! I don't like Jessian. She's just being difficult. She clearly told me she doesn't want to get tied down grandpa."

"She did? Oh poor girl!"

"Grandpa, do we really need to do this ? Clearly we both aren't ready for this. Forget ready, we both aren't even perfect for each other. She can't stand me, I can't stand her either." I said, truthfully.

"Look kid, I've given my word to my friend. It's for yours and her grandmother's friendship and the love they had for each other. And moreover, I think you'll be just fine. Just try to make her happy. Lucas, you didn't join the family business did you ?"

"No." I shook my head as I said that.

"And why didn't you join it?"

"Because I wanted to play football grandpa, you know this."

"See, she's a girl with ambition. Getting married won't hinder that. And I know for sure, that you'll never let anyone get away from their dreams. You're not that person, kid."

I am not that person. He's right. I know how dreams and ambitions work and I know how important that must be for her. Then why does she think us getting married will be a bad thing for her career ?

"Lucas, get to know her. Take her out. I'm sure you both will be just fine." He giggled and I could clearly hear it over the phone before he cut the call.

Take her out ? Get to know her ? That means giving this arrangement a chance. Should I really give this arrangement a chance then huh? A little patience and some gestures won't be bad I suppose.

I dailed a number, her manager's number.

"I want to take her out for dinner."

When I began thinking about what exactly could I do to get to know Jessian, the woman I was about to marry soon, ideas popped up like crazy. All those things I had wanted to do for someone, but never could. All those gestures I thought I'd do for my wife. I knew this setup was weird. I knew Jessian wanted to get out of this situation sooo badly. But after listening to Trey and grandpa, I thought maybe I should give this a try.

Jessian's a pretty girl. Well, who am I kidding she's ridiculously pretty!

Lucas, FOCUS! You can't be falling in love with the girl you're arranged with.. or was I ?

AT THE DINNER

Something about the night time, the stars twinkling above, lights lighting up the terrace, always made me think of a romantic dates. In my head, that was the ideal romantic date setup. So I went for that. I went for the classic, all black look that I loved on myself. My absolute favourite, no doubt.

I was waiting for Jessian and there she was, in her skimpy red dress, she's trying her all to make me run away from this isn't she ?

The night went by and no matter what she was wearing, I guess I couldn't get my eyes off of that gorgeous face.

God, how can she be sooo breathtaking ?

And she's going to be MY WIFE!!?? Good Lord, I'm a lucky man.

We danced and danced and danced a little more. J guess we danced alot more than we talked that night. Just me and her, alone. On a terrace, under the night sky. Just us two, looking at each other, my eyes couldn't leave hers. She would sometimes get shy and look away, and time and again the realisation hit me, there's a reason she was on that list of the most beautiful women in the world or something.

When I walked with Jessian to her car at the end of the night, I knew that's probably the last time we're meeting before the wedding.

And that, made me sad. I guess I'd like more such dates with her.

Date ? Was this a date ?

She left that night and I had a weird feeling about watching her go. Made me feel things, things I've never really felt. Things I've stayed away from. Things they talk about in those romance novels. A tingle in my heart, butterflies ? Maybe. But I knew I was going to give this a chance. That's something I knew for sure after that night.
