Olivia Rutherford could feel her heart bursting out her ears. She wasn't simply nervous, she was anxious. Seeing Alex in secret, despite the family's obvious concern, wasn't too much for her to handle but that particular night was just unberable. It was too risky. They could literally lose everything just because of it. Those weren't the best circumstances, considering also that it was freezing and they had gone to the only place they were least likely to get caught at: the barn. It could be funny, if it wasn't terrifying.
Olivia knew they weren't supposed to but the desire had the best of her. Alex knew her lover wanted her so much it hurt and she wasn't going to be the one saying no.
They both knew what they were getting into. The Rutherford dad was one of the most dangerous men in town. Not only did he have a gun, he had traps set all around the property, some of which not even Olivia knew of. If only she had known, I wonder if the episodes of that night would've had a different end.
But then again, who cared, when they had eachother? A hay loft isn't the most comfortable place but it's not like they had a choice.
Even in the cold weather, the two lovers managed to keep themselves hot. It was just making out in the beginning and soon evolved into something more. They tried their best to keep quiet (as one does, in the kind of situation that could get them killed); but the Rutherford family was sleeping tight at that hour, or at least so hoped the two sapphics. Alex did try to go easy on Olivia, so she wouldn't get them both killed, but it had been so long since they had a moment of intimacy!
Alex hated the Rutherfords, as they made things so hard for them. Oh, if she could just spit in their face and run away with the love of her life she would, without a doubt. Olivia looked so good, even with the low lights of the barn. She was completely irresistible in Alex's eyes. Her beautiful black silky hair, her eyes green like emeralds, her brown skin and curvy body. She wasn't so bad herself; Alex had curly short hair and a very androgenous way of dressing, which had gotten Olivia's attention in the first place.
Outside the barn, Mr. Rutherford was well awake, for some reason and noticed the missing of his daughter. "She must be with that devilish whore again! If i catch those two together it's the last day of their lives." To everyone, including Mr. Rutherford, Alex was just a selfish young lady who corrupted respectable girls. Truly, Olivia loved her with all her soul and the feeling was mutual. But in a society like that, who cared about "love"? They were both girls so having a relationship was out of question.
Mr. Rutherford looked for his daughter everywhere around the property but the barn. As he approached, he saw something move (probably some animal) and aimed at it, nervously.
The sound of the gun gave the alarm to the young girls.
― Shit, it must be my dad - whispered Olivia underneath her breath. She almost froze up with fear, until Alex abruptly stopped and got up.
― Quick, put your clothes on! - she started running around to see if there were any ways they could escape without running straight towards Olivia's dad. She found a big hole on the fence that separated the barn from the garden and held her lover's hand after she hurriedly put her clothes back on. Just when they were about to leave, Rutherford enters the barn.
― So there you were, you little rat! Sneaking out to meet this creature from hell. You two should be ashamed! - he looked insanely mad, which made Olivia's heart start going faster and faster.
She held Alex's hand harder and ran as fast as she could, with her dad screaming "get back here" and running to chase them. They were scared to death, quite literally. It was dark and she sound of gunshots could only urge them to run faster. Suddenly, they felt their bodies be held up in the air and before they even realised what was going on they were tied with knots on one of the traps. Olivia bust into tears, trying to release herself and Alex from the knots. They were doomed, she knew it. Alex held her close, confused and scared, whispering in her ear. "I love you, baby. I always have, since the moment I saw you." Rutherford got closer and closer to them. "if this is the way we end, just know it was all worth it." Olivia cried more, as the gunshot noises got louder. She didn't want to die.
"I don't want to die" she whispered back to Alex. "Neither do I, my love."
Olivia's dad finally found them, it was their end "... but just know, I hope we'll meet in the afterlife". And those were her very last words, as Rutherford shot the both of them to death. The bodies fell to the floor, released from the ties that were torn apart by the bullets, with a red puddle of blood surrounding them. Now, seeing his own daughter pale and lifeless, Rutherford realised what he had done. His daughter wasn't coming back, but in his head it was better than having a lesbian daughter. So there they laid, in the dark, the two lovers with dreams to never be fulfilled.
