Chapter 13:
"First, you'll put your taste buds to the test as you judge the Who pudding cook-off!" the Mayor announces while his assistant echoes the last part.
Mercy Grace watches the Whos stuff her father's mouth with their homemade pudding. The Grinch is very uncomfortable. Fear and concern are embedded on her face as her hand covers the small lower lip.
Kyle Ray notices his love scared. He walks over towards her to speak nervous, "Mercy Grace?"
Mercy Grace turns around when she notices the nervousness. "Yes, Kyle Ray?" the teenage Who girl asked softly.
"W-Would you like some of my pudding?" He offers a small bowl of who pudding.
Dark brown eyes lit up in wonder when she sees the vanilla/chocolate swirl pudding. "I would love to," a smile curls on her small lips as she accepts a spoonful of the delicious pudding.
"Christmas conga!"
The Grinch leads a trail of dancing Whos around the tree. "Look at the time, we should be getting back," he tries explaining to the Whos, but they didn't hear him. "Alright!" he yells at them before joining with the crowd.
"Fruitcake, tra-la-la!"
Kyle Ray offers Mercy Grace some cinnamon bread due to their dislike for fruitcake.
"Fudge Judge."
The teenage Who boy will give his crush something he made at each contest that her father is going through each contest but in more of her own personal taste.
"And finally....Nog Off!"
The Grinch lays under a large bowl of eggnog and drinks the liquid through a tube. Mercy Grace continues looking on nervously as everyone cheers. Finally, he finishes it with his stomach enlarged.
"The all Whoville record....has been broken!"
Everyone around Mercy Grace cheers as she looks on in shock. The Lady in Black has been worrying about his health due to the large amounts of sweets and eggnog. Sure, the Grinch's burning the calories off by doing the physical activities, but still.
A few other kids join in the sack race with Daddy. The Grinch "accidentally bumps into them to get closer to the finishing line. Mercy Grace hears her mommy let out a cheer when he becomes the winner among the other joys. It makes the Who teen happy, knowing Martha still very much cares for the Grinch.
"He's number one in the sack race run!" the announcer announces, offering a 1st place ribbon to the Grinch.
"I'm number one!" he grins happily. "No child can beat the Grinch!" he points himself.
"He won!" Mercy Grace grins happily, clapping.
Kyle Ray smiles big as well and clapping.
The Grinch is thrilled that he's finally getting respected by the Whos. He's taken towards the stage where he joins his daughter, Martha, Kyle Ray, the Mayor, and his assistant are standing.
"And now it's time for the moment we've all been waiting for," the Mayor announces.
"Awe, yes! My award. Write the check," the Grinch speaks to him, making Mercy Grace roll her eyes and smile.
"There's no check."
"Are you sure? Because I thought I heard someone mention a check." The Grinch rubs Martha's shoulder flirting, making her blush.
"I said, there's no check. And now it's time for Present Pass-it-on!"
Martha first takes a present and smiles to a Who next to her, "Merry Christmas."
