Late 2018

"Mammy!" Our excited three year old squeals as he reaches for me from Alex's arms. I scoop him up and give him a tight hug. "You had fun with Uncle Alex and Aunt Pez?" I asked him while holding him.
"Mhm! We played football and then he took me to see where he work. And then we all ate and then we danced around to yer songs and Aun'ie Pez was singin' with me in Stereo Shoulder and then you came!" He says a rapid fire. It makes me glad I can understand him.
"That's good, Baba," I say before kissing his cheek. He giggles cutely. "I know what we did, and I could barely understand what he just said," Alex says and I laugh. "But he speaks 'excited' to you all the time. You should know."
"I'm not fluent. Also, he has a Geordie accent mixed in it. Making 'excited' a complicated language," he defends and I shrug; he can be a little difficult to understand sometimes.
That's where Jade comes in.
"Ready to go?" He looks over at Alex, then at me, "Can Uncle Alex come with us?"
"I wish, bud, but I gotta start working again. I told you that, remember?" He pouts and bows his head, "Okay."
"It's okay, baby boy," I rub his back and he wipes his eyes, even though he wasn't crying. "Will I see you again?" He asks in a sad voice. Alex nods then takes off the LFC hat he was wearing and set it on Lee's head. "Jade is not gonna like that," I chuckle.
"She'll be fine," he says while fixing it to fit his head better. Lee gasps with wide eyes, "You're givin' me yer football hat?" Alex nods and flicks the brim, "Yep, all yours, bud." Lee smiles big and reaches for him.
I playfully roll my eyes when he goes to him. Lee hugs his neck, thanking him. "Are ye comin' to me birthday? It's November 14, 2014," he says. "I'll try to, buddy. If not, I'll call you," he says then playfully punches him, causing him to do it back.
"Love you, Uncle Alex," he hugs his neck again. Alex visibly softens at the gesture. "I love you, too, buddy," he says then receives a kiss on the cheek.
I love the bond Alex and Chris have with Lee. Their like his best friends.
He's only ever been around females except when he's with one of them or his cousin, Kailum. I may be his "dad", but I'm not a man, y'know?
At least not all the way.
Alex sets him on his feet and he runs to me, grabbing my hand.
"Now, we wait for your Aun'ie Pez," I say. Lee puts a hand on his hip and rolls his eyes. "She's been in there foreeeever," he groans, causing us both to laugh. "Wait, 'm comin'!"
"There she is," Alex says just as she appears from behind him. She crouches down and hugs Lee, "I'm gonna miss you, little one."
"Lit'rally gonna see him in a few days," I say when they break the hug. "I can still miss him," she glares at me. "But you are gonna see me in a few days, Aun'ie Pez. And Aun'ie Jesy, Mammy, and Mammy," he says with crinkled brows.
"I know, but I'ma still miss ya," she tickles him and he laughs while swatting her hand away. "Love you, Aun'ie Pez," he gives her one more hug.
"I love you, too, little one," she kisses his cheek then stands up straight. "I gotta pick up Jade from her Mum's," I look down at Lee. "Wanna see Grandma Norma?"
"Yes! Yes! Yes!" He bounces. I pick him up again and he was buzzing with enthusiasm. "With how he is now, you'd think it was already his birthday," Perrie says and Alex agrees.
