The night was dark and the fog was thick and black and swirled eerily through the red pine forest, Katsumi wandered through the seemingly endless darkness, using the moon as her only light source. With the feeling she was being watched she decided to keep moving so whatever it was didn't catch up.
A noise filled the air and she stopped in her tracks, the sound of a woman singing echoed through the trees. The voice was so familiar that Katsumi's breath hitched and her hands began to lightly quake. A twig snapped somewhere behind Katsumi and she jumped, picking up her step, she decided to follow the familiar voice.
The twig snapping was followed by the sound of a very loud hissing that struck fear directly into her veins and carried her feet faster than she was already moving before. When she came to the end of the trees, the only thing between her and a 75 foot drop cliff was a small grassy clearing. A pool of blood clotted up in the dirt near her feet, with a blood trail leading over the edge, the sight making her blood turn cold.
The voice continued, but Katsumi swore it was coming from over the cliff. She heard the hissing nearing her, so she stepped closer to the edge and looked over. The wind carried the sound of the singing clear enough for her to hear the words in a loud whisper, "You'll never know dear….how much mommy loves you…"
From behind her a hoarse scaley voice finished, "Pleassse don't take my ssssunsssshine away." She turned as the horrifying figure leaped at her, sending her straight over the edge.
She shot straight upright in her bedroom, sweat gleamed across her forehead as she attempted to catch her breath. The clock read 5:37 am. She climbed out of bed and stretched her limbs before starting her morning workout routine.
'Better not over do it, you don't even know what you're gonna be doing in school today.'
She did, half of what she normally does, 25 jumping jacks, 15 squats, and 20 sit ups. All the while, she couldn't forget the face of the disgusting woman in her dreams; her face was misshapen, like a snake with bright green eyes and scales resembling the color of toxic waste, two slimey slits cut into her face where her nose should be and her body looked like it couldn't decide if it was snake or human.
The slithering motion it made was fitting for the snake half of her body, but her human torso and arms looked more than unnatural swaying in the rhythm of the serpent. It was creepy, honestly, and Katsumi wished she could get the horrific beast out of her mind.
At 5:50 she was in the shower, making sure to scrub away the sweat from her less than peaceful slumber. She styled her hair after efficiently drying it with a blow dryer, and washed her face, finishing her bathroom routine with brushing her teeth.
The uniform she was sent by the school fit well, the skirt wasn't too snug or too big and the stockings didn't slip. Her shirt looked nice tucked in, and she left the overcoat unbuttoned and open, revealing her red tie and white shirt. Taking a last once over on herself she exited her room and went downstairs.
All thoughts about her nightmare were forgotten when she saw the flash of a camera and the sound of a Polaroid printing a picture rang in her ears. "Look at youuuu!!! First Day Of Prestigious High School UA!!!" She squeaked as she wrote on the back of the picture with an ink pen. "I'm making a special scrapbook just for your UA experience. And I'm getting tickets to this year's sports festival so I can video tape you in person!"
Hinami couldn't have kids, that's probably why she's made so many scrapbooks and videos since Hikaru brought Katsumi home when she was only a year old. He adopted her after villains attacked her parents and they were killed protecting their infant baby.
