We're Okay? We're Okay, We're Fine

"Alright, I'm all set, I have to go to work now." Emily said as she picked her bag up and hugged Miles good bye.

"Okay, be safe, I'll see you tonight" Miles answered as he walked her to the door, shutting it behind her when she left.

"Okay, she's gone. Now, how do we make this celebration different?" He clapped as we started planning Emily's surprise party.

"We don't have to make it different, we have to make it special." Stacie stated.

"True" We all answered in unison. "Okay, smarty pants, how do we make it 'special'?" He rolled his eyes.

"How about we celebrate it in Jaime's apartment?" Kyle suggested to the group. They both looked over to me while I said nothing. "Okay, but why?" Miles asked slowly

"Well I mean it's been quite some time since we've celebrated anything in her apartment so..."

"Is that okay with you, Jaime?" I just nodded and smiled.

I didn't want to say anything yet, I could feel Kelly's eyes piercing through my soul and it's making me very uncomfortable. I'm pretty sure she remembers the events of last night because usually when we're all together we were inseparable. But I sat the farthest way from her and I guess she got the message and didn't come to me.

"Have you guys brought her a present yet?" Jasper asked.

"Well about that, Emily doesn't care about material things, us being all together is enough for her. That being said, of course I did, I brought her a jewelry box with a mirror and a cute figurine in the middle." Stacie chuckled at herself.

"Great" Miles looked at us one by one and we all nodded, stating that we had brought her a gift. Mine wasn't much but I gave it a lot of thought. Emily loved Paris, she always wanted to go there, just like Kelly, so I brought her a gold necklace with the Eiffel Tower on it, together with a small portrait of the Tower with city lights in the background.

"Okay so, I would like to ask Stacie for assistance on preparing the venue aka Jaime's apartment." Stacie gave Miles a thumbs up. "Great! So Jasper and Kyle will pick up the cake that I had specially made by my good friend, just mosey down to his shop and say my name, he will know it. And Jelly, you guys are on food."

Kelly and I shot our heads up with the mention of our names. "Alright! Chop - chop!" Miles clapped loudly.

"But-"

"No buts little sis, you're the cook here. Just give me this one, please?"

We caught a glimpse of each other and quickly looked away before she nodded to which Miles reacted with a squeal and a hug. "I don't understand why you're trying to put up a fight, You're literally the chef plus, I paired you with Jaime" Miles winked, lowering his voice towards the end of the sentence.

"Alright then, Boss. Just text me the address and we'll be on our merry way." Kyle stood up, stretching his arms.

"Sure" We all walked towards the door as I tossed my apartment keys towards Miles which he sloppily caught. Jasper and Kelly took their car keys from the bowl at the side of the door.

The elevator was silent, I was leaning my head near the buttons whilst Kyle had both of his hands on the either side of the metal bars that surrounded the elevator. Kelly was standing on my farthest side while Jasper was in front of me, stealing weird glances of me and Kelly from time to time.

"So, are we excited?" Kyle broke the silence. When no one answered he pouted "Wow, tough crowd" he said as he cleared his throat.

"Oh, Thank God" He quickly said as the elevator dinged, I felt bad for not answering him back there so as he walked passed me I put my hand behind him and rubbed it in a comforting way, smiling at him when we met eyes.
