Chapter 5:

They were really doing this.

Liam Payne.

He would be at their ranch on Saturday.  Member of one of the biggest boy bands in the world, and now one of the biggest new actors in Hollywood.

Liam Payne.

One fifth of One Direction.  A star.  In every paparazzi-following-your-every-single-move, crazed-fans-removing-their-underwear-and-throwing-it-at-you sense of the term.

Aria wasn’t a fan, but she didn’t live under a rock.  She knew that pandemonium and chaos follow the guys everywhere.  Besides, between Betty Lou and Hailey gushing over the guys whenever they saw them on television, or heard their songs on the radio, she knew the effect these guys had over the female, and some of the male, population.

When her grandparents told her who was coming to the ranch for riding lessons, she did her “research” and came across Cosmopolitan magazine’s February cover interview, which summed up Liam Payne as:  rakishly handsome, and devilishly charming.  He is on his way to becoming a true legend of his day.  Like Johnny Depp or Hugh Grant, he oozes such natural charm and confidence.”

There were several tabloids with him on the cover but Aria decided she didn’t have time to read them.  However, tabloids have a funny way of grabbing your attention and one cover story caught her eye.

“The Women of Liam Payne!”

The image under the title consisted of 5 photos of the singer-slash-actor, all with a different model/singer/starlet/bimbo hanging all over him.

Aria scoffed, shaking her head at the photos disdainfully.  “Typical,” she muttered to herself.  There was something about seeing this guy, the way he seemed to intentionally display his conquests, that got under her skin.

She opened the tabloid and a foldout of what was probably 4 pages of Liam Payne and his various “relationships” fell out.  For almost a minute, Aria could only stare at the pages and pages of “The Women of Liam Payne.”

She scoffed for the second time as she picked up the foldout.  There was the one-hit wonder who sang about a certain month of the year – everyone laughed at that song, but the singer laughed all the way to the bank because of all the YouTube hits; the British Olympic swimmer; the Victoria’s Secret model who lost her contract and retired when she gained 20 lbs after he broke up with her; the daughter of a legendary rockstar; and several others Aria didn’t know.  But the last picture caught her attention – she recognized Danielle Peazer, and her exquisite face and gorgeous curls.  She may not be a fan of the band, but Aria knew Danielle from the picture that Betty Lou taped on her dart board.  When her friend learned that Liam, her favorite One Direction member, was dating the dancer/model, Betty Lou decided to use her face as a target to hone her darting skills.  Written in big, bold letters above the beautiful girl’s photo in the tabloid was the question, “Are They Back Together?”

Deciding that she could somehow find a way to go on living without knowing the answer to that question, Aria dumped the “research materials” into her waste basket.

Rakishly good-looking.  Devilishly charming.

Liam Payne.

And he was going to be all hers for 3 weekends.

Whoop-de-do.

********

“Whooo-hooo!”  Harry yelled as he managed to kick the soccer ball out of from under Louis.  “You snooze, you lose.”  He teased.
