The girl awoke suddenly. Ari looked up from her twisted position on the bed and found that the scrawny gray owl by the name of Errol had flown so fast at Ari's open window, that the poor bird smashed onto the floor as soon as it made contact with the room.

"Stupid bird," Ari muttered under her breath. Impatiently, the hunched sixteen year old glared at the blaring red alarm clock on her beside table. It read, 5:32 AM.

"So much for waking up late today," the girl thought as she walked over to the now shaking bird on her bedroom floor. After poking the dead looking owl a number of times, Errol lifted up his wing, and Ari found a small, distraught looking envelope hidden under a lump for feathers. Even though there was no return address on the piece of parchment, she knew by the sloppy script that this letter came from none other than Fred Weasley. The two had been corresponding all summer break, eager to see each other once again in September when they headed back to Hogwarts, the school where they met and became best friends. Of course, there was also George Weasley who sent loads of messages as well, he was just a bit pre occupied with prancing his younger siblings than to write as much as his twin. Of course Fred had done loads of pranks too, he just left a little extra time for his best friend.

But Ari was thankful for that. She always liked Fred a tad better than George, and found that he communicated every so slightly with more enthusiasm. But, the twins were her best friends, and she was theirs, and that's how Ari liked it.

Ari unfolded the letter carefully, making sure it wasn't filled with confetti like it was last time, and beamed at Fred's nickname for her at the top left corner is the parchment.

My sunshine calamari,

Sorry, no glitter this time love. But there is a surprise in this letter, just you wait.
We are good here at the Burrow. We have been playing lots of quidditch in the garden recently. Mostly because Mum is so mad at George and me due to our last prank on her, but I'll explain that when you come and visit.

Oh crap! I almost ruined the surprise :0

Well here goes. Dad got us tickets to the Quidditch World Cup! Since Harry and Hermione are probably coming along, Dad got a ticket for you as well! I know your family probably have tickets already because of your brother in the Quidditch world and all, but I really hope you choose to come with us, besides, well, who doesn't love the Weasley twins?

Please respond as soon as you can, either way George and I will be waiting eagerly for your reply. We miss you terribly (I miss you more than George does).

Lots of Love,
Freddie Pie

Ari put down the note, giggled, and read it again, while excitement flooded over her. Grabbing a blank sheet of parchment, a quill, and some ink, Ari scribbled a quick response.

Freddie Pie,

I would love to go the game with your family! My parents have been on my nerves lately so it will be good to get away from them for a bit. They'll find someone else to take my ticket.

Please tell me about your latest pranks when I see you, I honestly cannot believe we haven't seen each other in over a month! I miss you dearly and cannot wait to pull more pranks with you lot.

I will use the floo network to get to The Burrow later this week. See you soon Freddie my love.

Ari put down her quill, satisfied with her short reply, folded up the letter, pinned it to the still flopped owl, and sent him on his merry way through the window.

The girl thought of flopping onto her bed and falling back to sleep, but then again she was wide awake and her stomach was growling with hunger. Slowly but surely, she got off the floor and galloped downstairs to the kitchen.

time jump: about a week later

Ari had her trunk packed, her cat, Lucifer, tucked into his cage, and her rug sack stowed neatly under her arm. Her father quickly rushed to her, taking the petite girl in his arms, squeezing her into a grand hug.

"Don't forget El, we will be a few boxes away at the match, so please try and say hello if you can," whispered Jacob, excitedly.

Ari's dad had always been a huge fan of quidditch, but never had the talent to play, let alone sit on a broom. Madeline, Ari's mother had however played for the Ravenclaw team as the first female seeker, not a surprise as she was wickedly fast, agile, and quite good at her position. Lukas Goldman had also been seeker on the Hufflepuff team while he was in school, and now played for the Wimbourne Wasps, a quite competitive British team, although not as popular as the Holyhead Harpies or Puddlemere United.

Ari took after her dad on the quidditch pitch. She'd always been a clumsy girl, and never could stay on a broom for more than 30 seconds without falling off. However clumsy, she still managed to be quite a beautiful dancer, taking up ballet when she was just 3, and learning multiple styles including jazz, modern, and a bit of musical theatre. But ballet was always her favorite. She was also fond of her ability to pick a musical instrument and play without much practice. Her skills at piano and cello were quite impressive for someone who had barely learned much, and her singing voice was so angelic that strangers would stop and stare at her, in awe of course, when she sang around her tiny town.

Ari and Lukas's parents wanted them to have both a muggle upbringing, and a wizarding one, emphasizing the importance of both cultures in the role around them. It was quite a nice childhood, and Ari wouldn't have had in any other way.

Ari kissed her dad on the cheek, and headed to hug her mother, who was waiting sweetly by the fireplace. Lastly, the girl turned to her older brother.

"I'm going to miss you kid," he exclaimed, punching her squarely on the arm. "You'll see me in a few days at the world cup, besides, i'll probably miss you more. And hey, that really hurt!" She returned the punch, only causing the slightest bit of flinching from the tall, handsome man standing in front of her. He rolled his eyes and stammered, "That punch was pathetic," as he pulled her into his arms.

"Will you just let go of me already." Ari had been in her brothers embrace for nearly 3 minutes. "I have to go you know, things to do, people to see." At once, he opened his arms, giving her a quick smirk as she rolled her eyes tauntingly. "Alrighty then, I'm off to the Weasleys. I'll see you lot very soon."

She turned and stepped into the fire place, grabbed a handful of floo powder and yelled "THE BURROW!"

At once she was throw into the dark abyss, but after a moment she felt a hard surface beneath her feet. Opening her eyes, she smiled at the familiar room and the nine faces peering down at her.
