The summer after their seventh year Y/N asked her parents if she could invite James to stay for a while. The two of them began dating in their fifth year and he had yet to meet her parents.

They said yes of course, being the fact that they would often ask about the boy in their letters to her from home. And Y/N was surprised to hear that her parents had already bought tickets for a flight to a small town a couple hours outside where she lived currently. She was confused as to why they were so quick to jump on the idea of inviting him, but decided not to question them about it.

She was excited to see what they would think about him, but on the day of, she stood in front of her mirror, smoothing her hands down her jeans. Her heart was beating a little faster than usual, and her face was already going red think about what her parents were going to say to him.

She sat on her bed, shaking her leg anxiously when she heard the doorbell, before her parents could even get up from their spots, she ran down the stairs as fast as she could, almost tripping on her own feet.

When she opened the door, there he stood, bruised arms from all the bludgers from playing Quidditch with Sirius a little too much in his backyard. Scuffed sneakers and messy hair almost as if he had ran the whole way here.

"Well look who decided to show up." She said, pulling him in by his collar and planting a kiss on his lips. "Isn't this a bit too much PDA?" He scratched the back of his head. She rolled her eyes. "My parents are in the other room, plus I haven't seen you in like a month."

Right as she was about to kiss him again, her mom walked into the room, smile brightening at the sight of James next to her daughter. Her father was a little more hesitant, walking up to him slowly but still shaking his hand like a gentleman. Because James was a gentleman, when he had to be.

The rest of the day consisted of awkward questions thrown at James and Y/N touring the boy around her house. The boy being a pureblood, was interested to see the world that Y/N lived in back at home.

He took quite a lot of enjoyment in looking back at old photos of her on muggle sports teams, and would stare a little too much at the posters that covered her wall from muggle bands.

"The Beatles...? What? Are they like beetle animagi?" She refrained from laughing at the completely serious look on his face. He noticed her trying not to break and said "What?" She smiled and sat down next to him.

"Oh James you really don't know much about the muggle world do you?" "Not a lot, but I know more about the wizarding world." He tilted his head, giving her a little smile. "Well, I know lots about the muggle world, you know lots about the wizarding world, I guess everything sort of evens out doesn't it?"

"Yeah, our child will be really smart then." She kicked his leg, scoffing. "Oh shut up, you." "You invited me-" "And I can quickly kick you out of my house." She smirked.

In the morning, James woke up to her trying to stuff all of her books, her camera, even her wand into her small backpack. "Why don't you just try and extension charm?" He said, grabbing his wand from her bedside table and throwing it towards her.

"Can't." "Do you not know the spell? It's capa-" "I know the spell, you git. I can't just put an extension charm on my bag when we're going to be spending most of our time around muggles."

"They don't have to see." She looked back at him, a warning look on her face. "Isn't that the same thing you said when you and Sirius were blatantly practicing hexes on one another over Christmas? Right in the middle of town-" "To be fair, we were kind of drunk." "Uh huh, sure."

He got up from her bed, trying on his own to stuff all her things into her bag. She sighed, pushing her lips tightly together in frustration. "But really, we could always make an excuse." He said, giving up and putting her bag back down. She chuckled. "Sorry m'love but no can do. You must have some extra space in your bag-"

"Why do you need to bring all of those books anyways? You're going to be spending all this time with me." He said, mockingly pushing the air on his shoulders behind his back as if it was hair.

"That's the problem. I'm going to need to take a break from you every once in a while." She tried not to smile, keeping him from winning the conversation. He held her chin. "Why don't you just ask me to go back home?" "Because we leave for the plane in like an hour." "Plane?" "Oh merlin."

"We could always apparate." He said, hands slightly shaking as he looked out the window at the planes. "Don't know what my parents would think about that." She linked her arm around his. "Nothing to be scared about James, I've been on plenty of planes."

"Yes Y/N, but this will be my first time on a plane. How is something that heavy supposed to stay up in the sky that long anyways?" He looked up at the sky, gulping."You say this, when you literally have a wand in your bag James Potter. I can't believe you're scared of a plane when you play a sport up in the air-"

"Okay, yeah. I am a little scared, and I've never been that high up in the Quidditch pitch."

Suddenly they heard an announcement that their plane was boarding, and on impulse James grabbed Y/N's hand like a lifeline and walked on the plane with her.

Going up in the sky was a completely different ballgame. "My parents know you play Quidditch, y'know." She said, rubbing her thumb across his hand as they lifted off into the air. "Your parents know about Quidditch yet I just learned what planes were like two hours ago. Also why did you bring that up?"

"Because they know it's in the sky, and my mother's looking at you right now like she's very concerned." James took a look over at the girls mother and gave her a tight lipped smile and a thumbs up. Once she looked back at her husband, James ran his hands down his face. "This is so embarrassing." She laughed leaning her head on his shoulder.

"Now you know how I felt when I met your parents last summer." He looked down at her, a confusing look on her face. "Yeah, but it makes sense you wouldn't know much since you're muggle-born."

"Yeah, and it also makes sense why you wouldn't know much since you're pureblood." She rolled her eyes. "I guess you're right." "I always am."
