Rocky and Zuma's Love Story

Chapter 3 Fear Isn't That Near

~Rocky POV~

We sat on the sand, under the sun. I had a bad memory of the day I got my aquaphobia stuck in my head. "Wocky awe you okay, please tell me what's wwong." I thought it was time at least for my best friend to know. "I almost drowned," I said, looking at Zuma with dead eyes. "What do you mean? When did that happen?" Zuma was more confused and concerned than ever. "When I had a different owner, before I joined the Paw Patrol." I sigh. "What happened?" the cute chocolate lab asked me. I gulp and open my mouth. "My owner loved fishing and I loved going with him on his boat. One day after we went into the ocean, he had caught quite a bit of fish, the floor of the boat was slimy. I was walking around when I slipped, then fell in a fish net and splashed into the water. If I wasn't stuck in the net I would have swam up, but I couldn't. I didn't have enough air, everything turned black. I had blacked out. When I had finally opened my eyes my owner was above me and he looked very worried. I told him I was okay, but when I saw the water I jumped, I was very scared and I ran to hide. After that day I always stayed at home when he was out fishing, but without me no one was having his back and one day he was attacked by two criminals who wanted his boat, he fought back, but it was no use. They had shot him. After that I became a stray, until Ryder found me" my eyes were all watery now. Zuma just came closer to me and hugged me. "It's gonna be alwight, I'll stay hewe with you and I pwomise I won't leave you." I started crying as he continued to hug me. "I'll help you get ovew youw feaw. I'll be with you all the time." he said to me with a smile. "I love you Zuma, thanks for being here for me." "Aww, love ya too bwo."

~Zuma POV~

Did he just say he loved me? Well he loves me as a friend. I love him in any way possible. "Wanna go fow anothew twy dude?" I say. "I guess, but promise me you will be next to the whole time." Rocky said to me, with his cute puppy eyes looking at me. "I pwomise." We slowly went towards the water, we both stepped in. I saw the fear in his look. "Don't wowwy Wocky, I'm hewe....fowevew!" I think after that Rocky felt strong and soon we were in the water. "Well done Wocky, you did it" I yell in excitement. "I'm in the water. I'm in the water! I'M IN THE WATER! Zuma look at me.'' The mix starts jumping from happiness. I'm so happy I helped him. I looked at his beautiful orange eyes and his cute ears. I had made him happy. "Zoom, now you better tell me what's been bothering you and what did Skye tell you?" I soon didn't feel so happy. I don't think I was ready to tell him how I feel towards him. What if he rejects me and doesn't even want to talk to me ever again? What will I do then? "Well, let's get out of the watew fiwst." I say. We went to the sand and sat down. We looked at each other. "Okay, tell me. What's been on your mind" I finally opened my mouth with a big sigh. "Thewe is one pup I have a crush on. Skye asked me if I would evew tell him how I feel." I look at Rocky and he was staring at me.

~Rocky POV~

Zuma likes someone? Is it me? Oh god I hope it is, but I can't tell him that I like him before I'm sure he feels the same way. I need to test him, but how? Then I smile at him. "So you like a guy? Who is the lucky pup?". He blushed a bit. "I'll tell you soon, is that okay?" I nod. Then I think, I'll ask him if he wants to stay in my pup house for the night. "Hey Zoom, mind if you stay the night at my pup house?" "Why?" he asked. "Well, you know. So we can spend more time together." His face looked like he was waiting for me to say that forever. "Suwe, I would love to hang out with ya bwo" he said. Then I realised that the sun was begging to set. "We should maybe get going to eat dinner." "Suwe, let's go!" We had dinner with the other pups and we headed to my pup house. 

~Zuma POV~

We went in, I was so happy. Last night we were together and now too. "Zoom, we have a problem" "What's up dude?" I ask. "I only have one pillow and blanket." "I could go to my pup house and get mine." "No no, we don't want to wake up the others, we can share." That's all I wanted to hear, I wanted to be as close as possible to his warm body.

"Okay, are you sure you want to go to sleep already? We could do something else before we sleep" he says. "Suwe dude." He got out two pieces of paper and two pencils. "Okay so, we must write our biggest secret here and we must hide them and look at them next year on this day." "Okay" I say. I got the pencil in my mouth and so did he. I wrote about my crush on him. After we finished with that we put them under Rocky's bed inside a small box.

Then we went on the bed and laid down. I say "Goodnight Wocky" "Night Zoom" he says back. As he fell asleep I took an advantage and went under the bed and took his paper out of the box. Before I could read it Rocky woke up and "What are you doing? How much of that did you read?!" he was angry, but he was still sleepy. "I-I didn't wead anything. I'm sowwy Wocky." and I went back to bed. "It's okay he says, but if we're gonna read them, let's do it together. But not now" he says. "Okay buddy." He soon fell asleep again, but this time I just went around his body with my paws and hugged him. I went down to his chest and listened to his heart. "I wish I could just tell you how I feel Wocky."
