not giving up (rin okumara x reader)

learning to control it

after the odd incident that happened a little while ago, me and Rin had been taking the classes as Mephisto said we would. looking over at Rin, he seemed to be getting irritated most of the time. it didn't seem to bother me ever as much as it did him. i didn't completely understand why, it just did. he was usually a quick learner but he could never see to get the hang of it.

"hey (Y/N)?" it was after our lesson was over.

i picked my head up as i was grabbing my things. "yeah Rin?" i nearly dropped my stuff, turning around too quickly to face him. My books and things hit the ground as we tried to reach for it. As i tried to reach for it, I fell along with my things. "o-ow... why am i so clumsy," i mumbled to myself. This wasn't the first time that it had happened before but it hadn't happened in a while.

"hey, you okay?" he helped me up and helped me collect my things. I had landed on one of my larger books and tried not to let the pain show but had eventually failed in the end at hiding it. "need to go to the nurse or anything? i can help you there if you need to..."

i shook my head but let him help me walk for a little while. "thanks Rin. for everything so far." i felt my cheeks heat up. Wondering why, i had almost tripped over my own feet.

"watch it. you're welcome for everything i guess but we haven't really done anything yet. our first real lesson or whatever is coming up and i'm not sure i'll be there to help..."

"that's alright i guess... just as long as i don't lose control of myself or anything..." i let out a quiet sigh, already tired of this, seemingly endless, day that kept making me even more tired by each passing moment.

He spoke quietly as we walked to the dorms. "same goes for me... as Mephisto put it, i can't be spouting blue flames everywhere." he let out a soft sigh, the sound of our walking the only noise being made throughout the hallways. "anyways, night [Y/N]. Sleep well." Before i had realized it, he had walked me to my room.

"Oh... Goodnight Rin..." i smiled softly at him before closing the door, but the door being stopped before i had it closed completely.

"wait," i heard, "i want to give you something." i replied with a quiet 'okay' and opened the door again. My face grew hot as i saw him lean forward, to feel a soft kiss being placed on the top of my head. "goodnight [Y/N]. See you tomorrow during class." he smiled and walked off. I quickly and quietly closed the door, leaning against it with a hand on my cheek.

"w-.... what was that for?" i flopped onto the bed, falling asleep with a bunch of questions and feeling running through me and my head. Tonight wasn't going to be a very peaceful night

i'm SO SORRY i haven't updated in so long and i'm trying to update as soon as i can but school ends today and i'll have all summer to write more. I'm glad some of you stuck with me through that small hiatus like last time and thank you for doing so again. thanks to everyone who's read my story.
