12 days of christmas [haikyuu oneshots]

on the fifth day of christmas - kuroken

a/n: ok, since the verse of the song for this one is five golden rings, i just had to do a proposal, duh. also, idk if i will be able to write all of these by christmas, sorry. if i write a chapter a day i will, but i'm currently struggling with writer's block and a shit ton of stress (and a healthy dose of depression and insomnia), so i'm not sure that will be possible. either way, i will see this to the end, but i'm just not sure how long that will take.

on the fifth day of christmas,

my true love gave to me, 

five golden rings

kenma pov- 

christmas morning

 we decide that we will first eat breakfast (he made cinnamon rolls), and then exchange presents. but kuroo's been acting strange since we woke up, and i'm beginning to get worried. if he breaks up with me, i'm not sure how i'd be able to bear christmas without him.

we've been together for almost six years now, so if he decided to end it, it would destroy me. i may not show it very well, but he means the world to me.

then again, maybe he's just worried whether i'll like his present. i'm terrified he won't like mine,  that might be it.

"kitten, you've been so quiet. do you not like that cinnamon rolls?" he asked, interrupting my thoughts.

"no, they're good," i mumbled. "thanks."

he got up to clear his plate and kissed my forehead. "glad you like them." he said.

i got up as well, grabbing my plate and putting it in the sink. as i was walking back, i slipped on some water that had splashed out of the sink. i braced myself to crash to the ground, but kuroo caught me around the waist and pulled my towards him.

"thanks kuro." i said softly, a bit startled by my near fall.

"no problem." he said, and pulled me into a kiss.

the love and tenderness in his kiss convinced me finally that he wasn't going to leave me i kissed him back happily, but was surprised when he pulled back. 

he used his thumb to wipe away a tear that was threatening to spill down my cheek and said "what's wrong?" 

i didn't realize i had teared up. "you've been acting so strange. i thought you might leave me." i whispered, more tears pooling up.

"what? no, no! i'm just worried whether or not you'll like my present. i swear." he said, reassuring me.

he pulled me into a hug, and the last of my worries vanished. "should we do presents now?" he asked.

i nodded into his chest, and we walked over to the christmas tree. 

i grabbed my present for him, and at first i was worried it was too small. then i looked over at the one he was holding, and was relieved to see it was not much larger than the one i held. "i'll go first." i said, handing him his present.

he opened it, to find a hard drive. he looked at it, confused, until i said, "i... i made you a video game. i know your favorite thing are cats and volleyball, so, uh, i made a video game where you are a cat playing volleyball? i wanted to make it personal for you, and... i don't have many skills besides game design." i shut my mouth, realizing i was rambling, but kuroo wrapped me in another hug.

"i love it kitten. you're amazing, i love you." he said.

i hugged him back, and let out a sigh of relief that he liked it. he gave me a sweet kiss, and said, "here's yours."

i ripped off the paper, to find the game i had been wanting for a long time. a bit impersonal from kuroo, but i was still happy. before i could thank him, he said "and i have one other present," and pulled a small box out of his pocket.

he got down on one knee, and opened the box, revealing two lovely silver bands. "will you marry me kenma?"

i gasped, and clapped my hands over my mouth. tears were running down my cheeks, but i managed to get out a choked, "yes, yes!"

kuroo grinned, and i held out my finger. he slipped the smaller ring onto my finger, and i put the larger one on his.

he embraced me again, and i cried into his chest.

"i know im bad at showing it, but i adore you, kuro."

"i adore you more."
