Your mother is suffering from Dementia as she recalls how she met your father. They both have been divorced for 12 years now but you make it your conquest to look for him and give your mother the last moments of peace to hold his hand and look in his eye, telling him that she doesn't remember him. (Can be a low-key revenge themed story where the hero realizes he was being petty and his mother is more important than any shit revenge)
